Hey all,

Last night, one of our loving servers crashed. One of our favorite servers that has pretty much never failed on us. This server's backups have unfortunately been playing up since 2010 and our web tech have not picked up on this, which means we have lost some data and we are unable to recover it.

That data was our station data unfortunately, so our stations directory is without some vital information which makes it unusable.

We will re-build the section as quickly as possible and we will ask everybody to re-submit their station to our directory once complete.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Don't You have "any" backup of the pages itself to upload them at an other server ?
I can not imagine that all scripts and pages are on one server and that nothing is left at a pc
Concerning my own websites, I have all data (pages, scripts, files etc) also at my pc ... If something should happen I just need to upload all content by FTP to the new environment

What about the contest who was on during the end of 2013 ?
I published links, the many as possible, to my page ... the counter was Yesterday already at 72 points
and all is gone ? ... as dust in the wind ?

Shit happens indeed ... but sad if it happens in sections were several members are taking care of their content to stay upto date

mood = not satisfied :sad:

- zip with the notebloc / script of a stationpage (in fact that one of Me)

Meanwhile I was able to take some screenshots of the cache of My own stationpage as it looked untill the crash

I may hope these details gonna be usefull

Heya GK, I do have backups on my own PC that i set to back up every day, i've further explained what i've done to recover it below. Our techs are based in the USA, so unfortunately I am unable to monitor our "Trained Monkeys" (http://djgarybaldy.co.uk/wot-backups/) unless someone on here wants to pay for a ticket (i'd be glad to inspect once a month!) ;)

The contest is still on, that data was on a different database, we have just had to end the rankings early, but I will be compiling that data ASAP for release soon.

I have spent the last 11 hours manually extracting all the station data from a backup on my machine from 5 days ago. Unfortunately it was set in binary so I couldn't just input it into MySQL and be done with it. Good news is, all 6600 stations are back in the database. I'll be going over it with a fine tooth the next 24 hours and have a new system for you guys to update your stations with (extra features coming too).

Thanks for your patience, I am off for a sleep (it's 8pm and I havnt slept since 7am yesterday morning). I will see you and the newly updated BW stations section in the next 24 hours.

Signing out,
JD
