Hey James, How about a contest between members that compares the Viewers or Listeners for each station! The Most Wins.......

James
03-01-2008, 04:16 AM
great idea
but theres no way to track listeners!
i could make a script for competition enteries :)

Punk101
03-01-2008, 04:19 AM
Shoutcast offers a list of hits and 5min+ listeners. But if You Put A Script Down I will Join In For Sure!

James

what would the prize be?

Punk101
03-01-2008, 04:27 AM
oooo! Thats a tuff one...... I will offer ad-space on my site or a commercial played on air....or a punk101 t-shirt or hat!...

Punk101
03-01-2008, 04:28 AM
I would stay out of the contest if thats the case

Punk101
03-01-2008, 09:17 AM
I was thinking maybe a adspace or a square on the main forum page or the new homepage that displays the admins, mods and VO pro's names. Just so everyone knows how to contact a member of the BW team easily if they have a problem. Just a thought....

James
03-01-2008, 09:23 AM
like the link under the forums stating the forum team like this? memberlist.php?mode=leaders (http://www.broadcastingworld.net/forum/memberlist.php?mode=leaders)

annnd... please refer your friends guys! theres some mod positions also! we need some more mods :)

Punk101
03-01-2008, 10:53 AM
ya, something along that line. or just a box on the side....
I will talk to a bud of mine and see if he will come and mod.(good guy!)

BW FM might be an idea to bring the community together? A net station made up of various BW members doing a variety of shows?
Just a thought....

Sounds good, but what about the music? Will my top 40 countdown be able to get a run? Even though it's jam packed with copyrighted music? I didn't think those rules applied in Oz? I know it's different in the US.... i'll check up on it.

BW can be at TOP

Few Thing need to be changed..

1)Change the Skin for Better Viewing
2)Be Active n make Posts which make PPl Active

mrockz619

We have now officially made the site "Ad-Free" for registered users.
This means the ADS IN THE HEADER are not vidible to registered users, Its because we value our members and loading page times :)

Thanks

You all continue to think of ways to improve your site. You aren't complacent in your current success and go out of your way to help new users get what they need quickly. Great resource!

Please, please, please, please make the code section on the blogs have a smallish given height and be scrollable.
An example can be found here: http://help.arenlor.com/main.php the CSS for it is:

pre.example {background-color:#FFFFFF;color:#00A0A0;display:block;width:60 %;height:10em;overflow:auto;}
display:block probably isn't needed, but I'm too lazy to lookup if pre is a block or inline element though I believe it's block. The overflow:auto; is what makes it so it'll only add a scroll bar if needed, this includes horizontal (it won't wrap, which is great for showing real code).

A referral mod? As in if you refer 10 people you could say get 1 month of free advertising...

Or if you build up your referrals to 30 then you get say 4 months of advertising...

Something like that...

Any chance of changing the type of player on the radio player?

I'm using a Mac so the Windows Media Player functions don't work properly for me and it just looks like a blank page... maybe a Flash player or similar?

we have the option for realplayer but i had to take it away because it stuffed the ajax in the site. What player do you suggest? :)

Johnnie

I found this after a brief Google;

http://www.3scriptz.com/software/flash-shoutcast-player.html

Just tried it out, and it seems very effective

James
08-10-2008, 11:55 AM
Ive tried that one, and it was a dud. Wouldnt work with ajax also it collects from a xml file which is no use :(

Johnnie
08-10-2008, 12:24 PM
Damn...

I'll have a look around and see what I can find...

Presumably you want something where the flash variables are modified by your station changing javascript?

James
08-10-2008, 12:27 PM
something that isnt controlled via xml, just a direct link :)

I'm having trouble editing my signature now. Firefox gives me the error below. I tried in IE and Safari and get the same basic error.

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

Edit:
Looks like that is happening when I try to change any setting (e.g. Profile, Avatar, etc.)

I came across this site awhile back. I love it. And everyone seems so helpful. I am new to the webcasting but not broadcasting in general. I have been in real radio for 10+ yrs. So many things have changed since the 90's! Our station was built by using old retired station equipment over the years. It is ran out of a bed room from my apt. for our church. This site is such a blessing to me as well as many others i am sure. Thank you to all and everyone who devote your time and talent to help others out who share the same interests! May God bless you and all your projects!

I've been looking around the great site and, correct me if I'm wrong, no forum or page is devoted to good radio practice. e.g. what makes a good interview, how to make a good program to stream or how to select the voice over that's right for you. If this page/forum section has to be set up then I would be happy to help.

Many Thanks
Ben
