It used to be a great job! We're so short-staffed these days it isn't funny. We have a total of 15 controllers here in Shreveport, staffing two seperate facilities on opposite ends of town, 24/7. Overtime is the norm. I think I've had maybe four two-day weekends so far this year.

Management is a joke, with supervisors micro-managing every aspect of any shift they work. Imagine working a busy, stressful job with a supervisor constantly perched on your shoulder just waiting to pounce if you so much as say a wrong word.

Pay and benefits used to be pretty decent. They've got all us old-timers stuck in the new pay bands now. I haven't had a raise in over four years, and incoming trainees will never make the kind of money I make, in fact, they could make more money as a manager trainee at Taco Bell than what the FAA pays them now.

Five months to go, and I'm out with no regrets about leaving.

Just remember...June is a great time of year...the time when you can pack up your troubles...

I CAN NOT believe that it is June. each year seems to be going faster and faster. I am almost 40 and it is scary to think how fast it got here....

All the way thought Jr. High and High School you'd hear adults say "time goes by faster after you graduate". And then you find out that it does, indeed, go faster.

TODAY I realized that I graduated on this day (June 10) 28 years ago...

...talk about time flying.
