Haha, Australia got this last year and it caused a few articles and stuff around the net and media but everyones fine with it. Faces are blurred and its the same as someone going to your home, what you see is what you get. Its not x-ray :p

Its pretty cool though :) Wonder how many years they update it?

well

i dont think its that cool
it means anyone anywhere once they have your address they can find out where you live. including routes and directions to your home not to metion
a nice colour photo of your home

i dont think this is cool

also over here in the uk it is now illegal to photo any police or law enforcements.
but its ok for them to photo, cctv and now stick our homes on the web

Just think without Google Street level we wouldn't have had this great picture of ET.

Its not available where I live and I hope it will be sometime before the Google camera cars arrive.

Big Brother is watching you .. and it gonna get even worser

WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TOO
Don't misunderstand Me ... I'm progressive and open to new and modern things .. currently most of the people do like what they do at Google ...
Hey .. did you have seen already my house ? Wauuuww looks great !
Nice isn't ?
I wonder what gonna happen when Google gonna publish one way or the other a picture where "something" can be seen who don't has to be seen .. ex: people who are into politics, an incognito car or any picture who can be related to a part of the privat life of a person or case

To Me it looks that into this first decade of this century Google can do anything what they are willing to do without any permission of anybody
An example : If I'm in front of a house and I take pictures I'm pretty sure that the person who's living into that house gonna ask ... What are you doing and why ? In the worst case they can call the police ...
Maybe the photographer is a buggler who is willing to make profits with it ...

As owner of a website any picture who is published is covered by a disclaimer (in most of the cases) .. however if somebody thinks .. that website shows a part of my privat territory that person can oblige the publisher to delete at once that specific content .. in other words some call this copyright

However Google isn't asking anything to anyone

Just for the record ... The Google Car was the past weekend into the streets of Brussels (Capital of Belgium) :doh:on sightseeing

Ooo yes .. for those who like to see into what kind of neighbourhood this guy is living into that tiny country Belgium ... feel free and click on this Google Map link (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=roeselare,+noordlaan,+belgium&sll=50.955764,3.117564&sspn=0.006988,0.013561&ie=UTF8&ll=50.955683,3.117521&spn=0.006988,0.013561&t=h&z=16&iwloc=addr&lci=com.panoramio.all,com.youtube.all) ... Virtual meets real :)

Invasion of privacy in my mind is ok now, but in the future our society is headed, it would be more trouble than its worth.

What happens when government outlaws smoking? I don't know about any of you, but I have done my time serving my country, I believe I have the privilege to enjoy a cigarette/good cigar from time to time. When they outlaw smoking, will these same cameras be the ones monitoring us? Yes google owns them, not government, but its funny how fast government will move to help fund something like this if they can justify it in "law enforcement".

First tickets for smoking in public, then tickets for J-walking, any other small thing that can be fined.

Even though a lot of these programs never work.

I remember when I was in Hawaii, and this program went into effect for "traffic vans". Next thing you know they where by every highway giving out tickets to those that went over the speed limit. Everyone was getting tickets in the mail because it was designed to get your license plate number. Everyone in Hawaii was up-in-arms over this. Shortly after, the program was shut down.

Point being, we already have satilites that can track us, banks that can track us with credit card numbers from purchases, phone centers that can monitor phone calls by voice identification. Unless you are Osama Bin Laden, you can be found anywhere in the world at any time. What is really the point of adding street cams. Does a company like Google really see this as a positive investment? I would ask yourself "why?"

"To Me it looks that into this first decade of this century Google can do anything what they are willing to do without any permission of anybody"

If you don't believe this, someone research about the first time a U.S. sub's prop was seen in the last 30 years. To anyone else taking that picture, that would have been a federal crime. That would have been Prison time for releasing U.S. classified craft info.

NOW with that being said, I will say Im the biggest google web browser freak out there.

But I didn't like the direction the company headed with google earth.

I'm going to leave it at that, because I don't know how I would exists without having google web browser.

Yeps .. you're perfectly right !

To anyone else taking that picture, that would have been a federal crime..
Without being an owner for real .. in fact they own a huge part of the intelligence at the internet .. other search bots do also .. but Google has the biggest part ...
and as they say .. that one with the biggest part of the pie don't gets hungry .. isn't
There are that many crosslines on the internet that it ain't easy to say these days whats right and whats wrong ..
As "normal" human being We have to stay "on" the road, We have to read Our disclaimers at least 10 times before making any uploads to Our websites .. We have to be sure to use no copyright material and lots more things
Copyrights to Google ? O .. well .. just use their image search tool .. I don't think that 1 of those images has a legal disclaimer of the original poster / owner who agrees with the publishing of his / her material
No need to make invisible pages on Our websites by using a robot.txt who includes a "disallow section" ... because with some intelligence all pages can be found by and at Google ...
I'm rather sure that somewhere on this 3rd rock from the Sun one of their searchbots already noticed this current post ... even already during I was writing it ...
Modern Times ... Charles Chaplin made already a movie about it about 100 years ago .. and We still have to follow the leader :chef:

Here in Ontario, there's a toll road where your license plate is photographed and a bill is sent to you unless you have a transponder.

The word was that if you sprayed hairspray on your plate, it would cause a glare so you could beat the cost. And there are other shaded license plate covers out there that probably don't allow a good view for the photo.

I heard about a guy who rigged an Asian folding fan to open over his plate as he was going onto the ramp for the toll road. I'd love to see what happens when a cop finds that.
