    [REMINDER] Forum Rules & Etiquette

    Updated: 12/07/2012
    Updated: 23/06/2013

By maintaining an account and posting at Broadcasting World, you hereby agree to abide by these rules.
Breaching these rules can result in post or thread deletion, and continued breaches can result in your user account being put a ban either temporary or permanent.

These rules apply to any content posted by all members on our site. This includes comments on articles, profiles and news items along with content posted on our forums.

    Contributing To Our Site
The staff at Broadcasting World do not take responsibility for any posts made on the forums, by posting content on our site you agree that you are responsible for what you post. Although we do try to moderate every single topic on this forum, we dont get to every topic and we require your help to keep things under control. If a topic or post concerns you, please report the post by clicking on the warning sign icon in the top right corner of the post.

    Posting Etiquette
Posts are to be made in the relevant forum, if you are unsure of where to post a topic feel free to PM one of our staff or post it under the most relevant forum category. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum or posting duplicate posts may be given a warning or possible ban.

When it comes to medical, financial and legal advice, it's always recommended to seek advice from a qualified professional, rather than asking about it on Broadcasting World. Any discussion of illegal activity like downloading illegal copies of music or distributing music without permission will not be tolerated and you will be banned. Since royalty laws are different in every country, we ask you to post discussions about royalties with your countries laws in mind.

Keep a post relavent, it should be to the point and not changing the direction of the conversation. A negative attitude within a thread is not needed. EG. If a user is posting a request for help with a particular piece of software, do NOT spam suggestions of other software or discourage the user to use that software.

    Stream Rippers
References to stream rippers are to be removed from the forums. Apparently this is due to legal issues surrounding the saving of copyright streams.

Thererfore any threads dealing with this topic will be deleted without recourse to the thread starters or anyone who may have posted in them.

    Respectful Ways
Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning or possible ban. Swearing is not tolerated and filters are in place to block any swear words or offensive content posted on our site. Please also note that swearing which is contextually understandable, e.g removing a letter, replacing letters with * or another character, or changing the spelling slightly, will also be moderated.

    Back Seat Moderating
Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue which contravenes something in our rules they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a Moderator. Only do this if a moderator has not replied within 6 hours. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Members who constantly "act" as moderators may be warned.

    Offensive Images & Text
Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning. For the sake of this argument, inappropriate content is considered to be any topic that would be unacceptable dinner time conversation when your grandma is over.

    Copyrighted & Personal Details
Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permission will receive a warning and their post will be removed. The posting of an individual's personal details is not permitted under any circumstances. This includes posting details of political figures, ISP staff, people that have wronged you, etc. It is also inappropriate to post company contact details which aren't available publicly. Examples of this might be an employee's desk phone number, or details on a priority/escalation support line.

    Hey Kids
We are sorry to say but this community is not suitable for Kids Under 14 Years Of Age. We allow all ages to sign up to our site but we suggest you ask your parents before you post!

    TXT Talk
Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or colored text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently abusing this will be warned. This does not apply in the shoutbox.

    Descriptive Titles
Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; "Help me!", "I'm stuck!", "I've got an error!", etc. Examples of good titles include; "I cannot connect to my server", "Cannot install software", etc.

Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance. Spam that doesnt relate to broadcasting or audio in the Promotional And Advertising forum will be removed. Any spam in other forums will lead to a warning and possible ban. We have a zero tolerance rule on spam, any spam that a member sees may be reported to us.

We do our best to remove unwanted posts, we appreciate you using the report button but please we weary that we are only humans and we cannot be on the website 24/7 to monitor.

    The Right To Remove/Edit Content
The moderating team reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Staff and not users.

    Our Staff Are Volunteers
Our staff (Admins, Mods, Managers) are all volunteers, this means we do not get paid for what we contribute to the site. That contribution is much more than you think, we maintain quality, restrict spammers and keep the place spic-and-span for you to enjoy. So please treat us with respect and understand that we all have jobs other than the site, we all come from different timezones and we are sometimes unable to complete your requests within a dedicated timeframe. If you have any questions or concerns, we are more than happy to help you out!

    Private Messaging
The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revocation of private messaging. The Private Messaging system is moderated by our forum software, any spam or breach of the rules will be picked up by our system.
any time. Broadcasting World and its staff may change these rules without notice. We encourage members to read the rules every few months.

    We Ask For Your Co-operation
Broadcasting World is your community resource and we love exposure to the world so we can share our stories with everybody. If you are interested in linking to our site or featuring us in an article, we'd love to help you out (or even give something in return!). Please email us,

    Personal Information
Never post in any online forum any information that could be used to identify you or to find you in the real world. This includes your real name, address, telephone number, school, job, health club or links to websites or other profiles that might provide such information. You can never be sure who you may be talking to on the internet. So never treat the people on line like your real friends off line. They may not be who they pretend to be. They may have a different age, gender or character to what they pretend.

Take Care In What You Say
Read every post over carefully and think.. Does this make sense? Will everyone understand it? Is it offencive to anyone? If you feel that you should not post, then dont, have a think about it and come back to it later. We aren't going anywhere soon.

Do not tell ANYONE your password and do not use a password that someone else might be able to guess. It should be at least 7 characters long, have both upper and lower case and include numbers and characters. No moderator, admin, member or anyone will ask for your password at Broadcasting World.

    Spam/Firewalls/Common Sense
Dont reply to spam, it leads to further spam. Install a good firewall. Windows SP2 comes with one built in and many routers have one in their system configuration. Firewalls stop hackers in their tracks. Never trust what you hear online, if someone wants to give you a thousand dollars, dont bite it, ignore them and report to a mod. Use common sense and think before you speak!
