Question Which one be better free or paid stream - Your thoughts!!

Let me pick your guys brains free stream hosting to paid stream hosting. What would you pick & which one would the best idea to choose from?

So far, the free stream hosting that I have atm, is pretty darn good!! I get emails when there is a downtime on my stream or if they are doing uogrades/speed test etc!

Years ago, I did pay for stream hosting with DRS & it was awesome at the time with the price. I would go back to em BUT the price is not sooo much an ideal with me :(

So, what would be good to have & use?!

    Free
    or
    Paid

Yeah, there is a saying 'You get what you paid for' with the free ones & paid ones as well!!

So, what are your guys thoughts on this?

    Hi Xh,

There are many ways to find cheap / cheaper hosts
"You get what you pay" isn't anymore a reason to receive bad services ...
Think about open source software, free apps for your phone etc etc
It looks that "free" is a good thing these days

I give you the advice to make a google search, check > order a trial at several providers > decide who gives the best / better results

Discover several providers ... and sometimes famous providers offers specials
Ever thought about a reseller streamserver ? Cheaper than paying per slots ...

After a while you gonna find what you are looking for, but you have to take the time to discover every opportunity

Broadcasting World used to have a list of Stream Hosts and reviews / up-time for each of them. With the re-design of the forum, I see they have removed it.
    SCS - Dedicated Bandwidth Servers
Shoutcast / Icecast / Windows Media
Transcoding - Auto DJ - Mobile Radio - FLASH Players - Auto DJ
Broadcasting World's Stream Host of the Month

We are re-desgning the main part of the site, so the forum look is temporary until the new redesign is done.

Personally I would always go for a paid service, where possible. I think, unless it is a very well established company, a free service could very easily end up not being sustainable for the company offering it. Free also (usually) means that support is not always as good and you are less likely to get any help because the company will be offering the paid customers support and the free customers will always come last. Please note, I said 'usually', I know this is not always the case. With free services, companies will be less likely to invest in the service because they are not seeing a return from it, unless it is supported by advertising in some way.

    Just my thoughts...

i run an invite only free shout cast hosting service w/ unlimited bandwidth 128kb/s and 2gb ssd auto dj. we do exist theres no reason to settle for cheap services that or over priced ones. right now my site lacks eye candy quality but im revamping it soon and opening it to the public but with limited spots are available and right now 4 spots cleared up because if you dont use your service we delete it and open up to a new radio host.

anyways... sorry for the self promotioni just wanted to make a point that dont settle just because you feel you have too
