Unless you learn linux, than your broadcast computer can use MUCH less resources but I dont know if sam supports that :/

    ooo linux...

Loves this idea. Kbuntu, should be fine. I have a server running Ubuntu, its a P3, with 512mb of ram. HDD space is irrelevant in this case.

And, ubuntu makes an wonderful second OS.

    There's this http://www.onlymeok.nildram.co.uk/
or, you could use SAM with Wine, there's different stories as to whether this works or not... but I don't think there's any harm in testing this.

And, XP should work fine on a P3 with 1gig of ram.

With SAM, you might need SOS to send metadata between the Comps

I would not recommended a P3 at all, very outdated processor. Even a P4 is pushing the limits in my opinion. For just about $200 you can get a pretty decent dual core machine, not including the OS.

If you are going to be building it yourself, I suggest taking a peek at these two websites. Either website, you can find pre-built boxes for cheap (great components too), or just the components themselves. NAME BRAND DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING!!! GO BY THE PART BRAND NAME NOT THE COMPUTER BRAND NAME. I'd recommend an Athlon Dual Core Processor, and there are many available pre-built, with an OS available on those websites.

This is where I've gotten the BEST deals on ALL of my computers that I HAND BUILD to my specs.
