Is "new" music original anymore?

I notice nowadays a lot of bands are re-mixing the older stuff, and much of what you hear is quite similar, in YOUR opinion, is there anything more? Have all the possible musical/mathematical equasions been used up? Could there be any sounds left to use that would make sense musically and sound good or is it the same tunes recycled? (not that I have anything against recycling ).

 

I remember reading somewhere when I was younger that most rock music (heavy metal too) was based from classical music. Just a thought, I would love to hear your opinion on.

I always think about this and think if music will ever run out? When will music become boring?

I listen to the music of these teen-agers now and I cannot say that there are songs that really jump out in terms of tonality if that is how to describe it. The all sound THE SAME! lol

similar to RnB who has its roots into Soul and Soul has its roots into Jazz

a lot of today RnB artists are also returning to those Soul roots

 

Its my idea that not all music is being made ..

these days 1 typical drum hit can make already "the" difference of an other newer style into music

To the public "a riff" is best known to date a typical style or period. These typical riffs where made during the 50s, 60s (a lot ! .. examples are The Beatles and Rolling Stones), 70s (by projects such as Deep Purple) ...

but also during the 90s a very typical riff was made by The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony .. if you hear the first note people do recognize the song at once

These days its my impression that lots of projects are going back in time by using real instruments and with lots of influences of the 60s

sometimes I have the impression that the "electronic movement" into music aka by using software loops into arrangements is "out" .. and the old fashion way of making music is back "in" (main example is Coldplay)

for a part .. these days lots of projects are going back to the roots.

the inventor of the 7 music notes (do, re, mi ...) has given Us a huge world of music ...

think about how many songs already have been made since the first human being "ever" used an instrument other than his voice to make music .

so I guess We can make into the future lots of "new" music without its gonna be recognized as already known.

There are still struggling new makes during this era but the trend has become favorable to remaking and remixing the old ones we had. Thats the 'new' in the old! Its still new since its not anymore the old-self, aint?

I think that there still are an endless number of possibilities for new sounds, either with alternate tunings, different playing techniques or new genres of music itself.

 

This song just popped into my head: Remember the 70s song Hocus Pocus by Focus? I remember that as a kick-ass cool rock song... That had yodeling in it! Do I sound like Cartman?...

Right Round by Flo Rida was a big hip hop hit but was a remake of a song from the 80's!

 

And, the other day, I heard the original version of the song from the 80's on 93.7 Mike FM, one of those "We Play Everything!" stations in my area.

I remember the 80s version of the song, but I can't remember who did it. I think it was definitely a one-hit wonder.

 

One thing I notice about the new music used in TV shows like Grey's Anatomy (my wife watches it) near the end of the show, is that the production seems pretty sparse - Almost like a modest demo in some cases. The show Flashpoint also tends to use music like that.

 

Kudos to the artists getting that kind of use for their tunes though.

Lately that sample was used by Flo Rida and a today remake has been made by "Doman and Gooding - Runnin" (who contains some lines of the original song)

The original song was made by "Dead or Alive" and the song called "You Spin Me Around" and was released in 1985

During the 80s several German projects, such as "DAF" made similar 80s sounds

Into that period of time also projects such as Divine (Shoot Your Shot), Flirts (Passion) etc made huge hits who where very popular into the Dance scene

Was listening to the radio the other day, a song popped on and I was like "O_o They don't play Bon Jovi, Did something happen to him?" The beginning of the song sounds exactly the same, I think the song name was love drunk or something like that.
