Recently had a job which involved the transfer of large files of uncompressed audio. The VO artist I was working with had an account with Yousendit and it worked fine. Has anyone got experience of any other sites which they can recommend....it would be good if they had a free option.

Many Thanks.

Mark

We use mostly FTP.

You can hire out a FTP server for $20 for one month..

We are using FTP to manage this site (Not with a small orange though).. as youve probibly seen, we have a files directory that everythings stored on.. (http://files.broadcastingworld.net)

How much space do you need? Im currently leasing some of my space out to arthur burton for free :)

Thanks James

Basically just need it for the odd job that requires a large file. This particular job had over 30 mins of audio so was a large un compressed file. Just want something which can be used occasionally for file transfer rather than storage. I might sign up to yousendit for the odd occasion I may need it. I just wondered if anyone used a similar facility.

Hi Mark,

I've been using yousendit.com for years and it's great, I've never had problems.

I also have an ftp server but often people have problems using it, I'm not sure why, it's compatibility problems with their software or browser or something else. I find it's not reliable enough.

Yousendit is simple because it's just an email link and it always works.

I pay to send multiple very large files, but I believe that a few megabites are free so you may not need to pay.

I know other services of the kind exist, but I've never used them, so I don't know if they are any good.

I have to agree with those that have chimed in on YouSendIt. It's free, if you don't mind having to send one file at a time...I use it all the time, works great, either the online version or the program you install, it has a great little address book that stores previous email addresses, which is handy if you are sending stuff to the same client all the time.
