55host.net : any review on them?

Hello guys.

Has anybody used 55host.net ? Any idea on their support department?

 

I am a customer of streamsolutions.co.uk, but I liked the cheap prices 55host.net advertises, and was thinking to buy a 128kbps server from them.

 

Any info will be appreciated.

OH, and if you don't want to say negative things "on the air", you can pm me.

Since we have no review, let me share my experience with them.

Firstly let me note that at the time I started this topic, asking for your reviews, I had ALREADY signed with them for a shoutcast server. I thought their prices were cheap enough to test a server from them - in order to add a second stream on my webradio.

 

I ordered through their billing system, I payd with Paypal on the 8th of September 2008. I received 4-5 emails in the next few minutes, invoice etc, all OK.

Then, after an hour or two, I sent them an email (customer support ticket) telling them that I hadn't received any IP etc. They replied in 10 minutes, telling me that I would receive my IP within 24 hours.

After 48 hours, I hadn't still received my IP. I sent them another email. Some days later I thought "well, there may have problems with their ticketing system, so let me send them a PM on broadcastingworld.net". I did. After 48 hours, still no answer, either on my ticket, or my pm.

 

Order and payment made : 8th of September 2008

Still no service : 15th of September

 

So I guess something is wrong with this company. I paid them 3.60$ ... I wonder, how many others have payed them and did not receive service?

Not very good for that company, you say they have an account on here? They should reply to this!

As I said, I am already with streamsolutions.co.uk and had no problem with them. I was tempted to test 55host.net because of the cheap price, to use it as a second stream.

Now I am also testing mixstream.net.

Of course they still haven't answered any of my attempts to contact them.

I really don't care about their services ... Please don't make any more moves for my sake ... I am happy with the services I receive from my current host, and the one i am trying too.

Even if I wanted to take back my 3.60$, I think I could do it from Paypal, but I don't care.

Later on, they tell me that I can go to two sites (they give specific links) and write a review of my experience as their customer.

Oh wow, they take time to write an email to all their customers about their quality service but they dont have time for their own customers support problems!

Ok, actually we forgot the url to this site after we cleaned out our book marks I found this in a live support message, I do not nor did I see tickets for an ip, Also shoutcast is on a port not your own dedicated ip, If you want that you will have to pay for it, and I am looking into your account right now and it was setup the second you bought it.

Also I see to mention you said we were banned, well the fact is a lot of people are getting banned due to dp new special rules, replying with offers got us 4 infraction points and when there forum lagged and we accidentally double posted well that pushed us to the 9 points we needed for out temp 30 day ban. But we will be back :) And we have been in business 3 years now. So I do not think they can hold us down :)

 

Also regarding some of these posts we have been mis judged I would read up on our shoutcast plans before purchasing, they do not include dedicated ips,

Shoutcast is hosted on a port, for example, t45.us:YOUR PORT

 

That is where castcontrol puts your server online. So I do not think posting that we did not give you your ip makes a lot of sense as shoutcast hosting does not give you an ip, So thank you for turning the public against us :)

Also another comment We found while reading this, You claim your shoutcast hosting was down. No, it was not we had a server transfer that took 24 hours which was planned 2 weeks in advance and dns propagation can take some time. Also You claim our support is bad when you never even opened a ticket up. Support Tickets 0 (0 Total) -- So before posting that our support is horrible how can you if you never even contacted us for help? We will no longer be replying to this post as it is going no where.

It's good that you came on here to put your side across. I wasn't very nice with some of my comments but then again I only heard one side of the story...... now you have replied to the claims made at least it shows there are 2 sides to the story. A similar thing happened with me a while back. I ordered a shoutcast service from a different host and never heard anything back for over a week. I was very annoyed and went to paypal and got a refund and posted what bad service it was on another site. Then I heard from the company and they had a major switch over with servers and could not do anything for those few days. I have since re-ordered a different plan and am very pleased with the service and customer service and therefore retracted my comments on their service. You was being criticised for your lack of response, not for your actuall service you supply. The fact that you have been in business for 3 years is a good sign. No-one is against you or your company and now there is an explanation from yourself that helps straighten things out.
