Since around 80% of the net is full of kids, do you play explicit music? (Swearwords, drug words) or do you bleep it out? I know some stations here wouldnt play explicit music becuause their station is a quiet station or a religious station :)

Do you play explicit music?

I refuse to edit the music or the message. As a musician and a DJ I am not about to edit music or lyrics over some antiquated notion of whats morally objectionable. Considering the words kids are subjected to on a daily basis just on TV these days and in movies and their own homes. Its not up to me to be the judge of morality. Its up to the parents!

I've heard children use language that would make Truckers yell "Hey! Watch your mouth we have Mechanics in here!!"

I agree, as a Former Radio Station Owner, and current Shoutcast Stream Provider, I understand the concern for the edits. However I do not believe in this age that kids are being censored by watching the tv as in the past, same with the radio. You don't have to go by the Clear Channel or answer to anyone because it is "Net Radio". It is an exception.

I see this topic as both plain and clear, there is no room on FM or AM open broadcast stations for any record with expletives this is why for the most part record labels usually issue a radio friendly edit, those who don't should not receive airplay of the offending track. It is ridculous to compare what kids hear every day as an argument. The moral standards that we as professional broadcasters should adhere to should preclude playlisting offending tracks. I guess none of you would use a link like "What a F*****G great track from Rihanna, I can see that F****R going all the way to No 1, better than that Umbrella pile of S**T she had out last year". So if we accept that as presenters we would not swear in a link, why play tracks that do. Does this make sense?

I have been an FM jock for the last 11 years my latest shift is breakfast and I am aware of the younger element of listeners and I for one would not want my PD on my back cos an angry parent had complained about a track I played.

Sorry if I sound a prude but I have been in radio for a long time and would like to stay in it!!
