James
Do you allow people to request songs? Via a sms/phone/email/chat line? I think it essential to have request lines because people really like controlling something, if they can hear their song, they will tune in. TechnoKelvin
Yes. I plan to use SAM's request system. I think an instant request that gets your song played within 15 minutes is the best way to go. It gives the user a cool feeling of control knowing that everyone is listening to music they chose. You have no idea if your favorite song you just requested just became someone elses too.

This setting violates the DMCA. Requests must be delayed for at least 1 hour (if you are USA broadcaster).

That sort of sucks then, if you wanna hear a song you have to hang around for over an hour! Thats sucks! Johnnie
For PPL in the UK there is also that rule, basically the Standard or Small webcaster license won't cover 'interactive' broadcasting, which I believe covers requests, so you have to wait for around 20minutes after receiving a request before you play it

wildun
I use the automated system in sam. After they make the online request the page says the song will play in about an hour usually. I also do all request friday each week. Listeners are asked to email their requests in during the week so on friday I can play them in any order I want. They can also call in and record their requests and or dedication which I play along with their song.
