jkemr
Just a quick note zara radio ver.1.6.1 does not work under Windows Vista so if you have zara and vista thats why you got probs... From the zara radio website >>> ZaraRadio 1.6.1 does not work under Windows Vista. We are aware about the problem, so we don't need more reports about this problem. We hope to release a new version compatible with Vista soon.

keithd
Hi James, Have been using it since it came out and I have to say it is rock solid very easy to programme for automation and has some really good features and of course best of all it's free!! If you use it along with Media Monkey library software (free as well!!) it makes for a fantastic on air tool because Zara allows drag and drop you can create a playlist in no time and get listener requests on air literally before you put the phone down. Also Piere at Blucanard Software has written a playlister (IMS) which works great with Zara and yet again it's free!! If anyone is familiar with Raduga, Zara is an almost identical piece of software but with a better layout and to get all the features in Zara, Raduga will cost you $499 US !! THREETEN RADIO
I have a version of Raduga and it is no better than Zara so go for Zara everytime. Of course Zara does not stream meta data or any ID3 tagging but hey, it's free woohoo! :biggrinthumb: Just thought another good app is RadioBOSS, it's is not free but you can stream direct from it and whatever the mp3 played is called it will show on winamp or other players windows. The trial version lets you use it for 45 minutes only. Worth a look at though I'd say.

THREETEN RADIO
My version of Raduga is old (3.5) and was free. Only reason I have it really.
aaronsnet
It's good for basic radio automation. It does not compare very well to SAM. A better comparison for Zara would be to Station Playlist. One big difference between SAM and Zara is that Zara can be programmed to recognize tones off a satellite feed.
WayneOwens
Honestly Raduga is a piece of crap in my opinion. I used it for all of 10 minutes, and I hated every part of it...I used DirEttore, didn't like that all too much either, I've used Zara, and I had trouble with it....and finally I used SAM 3 all the way up to 4.3.7 and honestly, the databases were driving my computer haywire, so I went to a piece of software, that's called Digilink Xtreme, and have had not a single problem with it. you can check it out at http://www.arrakis-systems.com just look under the automation dept. and you will get to see a video of it, they offer a demo that is fully functional, and works for longer thant all the other demos, it works for a year or until the next update, and if you have the money, pump it out for a control board that hooks up via USB and detects the software and runs off that. Also, if you wanted support, it can be a little steep, but when you are running the demo, you get free basic support, and I have had great success with it in the past, and still do. The library is so easy to program, it is one little folder inside of the directory for the program, and once you insert the mp3's or WAV's, it takes care of the rest including assigning the songs cart numbers....the only thing you have to worry about is programming commercials, and creating your clocks, other than that....not a single flaw

Wow, that looks really cool and has actually been what I have been looking for (a console and automation hookup so your console works with your automation software). Thanks!!
