List of companys that may sponsor you!

Recommended Posts

Alot of stations lack competiitions, maybe because they dont get sponsors and they think you have to pay for prizes. Having a sponsor is great and it gives a fair way of promoting things. Here are some companys that may be interested in sponsoring you!

Or try locally. Visit your shopping mall and visit some stores, even a small store may sponsor a compatition! Try the yellowpages and find a business relavent to your listeners interests!

Good luck! Any more tips?

Good luck getting any of those to spend any money on a station that has less than 10,000 listeners. Those are huge companies that will not waste advertising dollars on small webcasters.

Unless your station is catered to just a local audience, many businesses will not want to advertise on a station that has an international reach. What's the point of trying to sell doughnuts from East Tennessee to someone in Australia?

A better opportunity would be to reach out to small internet stores or small/medium sized companies that are focused on getting national customers. These businesses tend to advertise in mediums that have a smaller viewing audience (such as free local papers, Google Adwords, etc.) Try and reach out to them...offer them a reasonable deal, and show them that you can deliver results.

We are planning on giving away a few iPods for the Christmas season but we are spending our own money to purchase them. I highly doubt a company the size of Apple wants to sponsor a 1,000 listener station...

It says MAY sponsor you ;) 2 Of those companies have sponsored my mates old radio station. Its worth a try, dont just assume they dont want your business. You do have a better chance in the local market and aaronsnet, if the local electronics store supplied you with an ipod or something, you can still give it away to people outside your area ;)

I've ran several contests on my station. I usually give away .... internet radios of course! Those were furnished by me like KWD mentioned about the ipods. Another venue I have found responsive are local music festivals. They will often give you free tickets to give away in return for advertising as well as press passes for yourself. I even did live broadcasts at a couple of them. My station got exposure because they were announcing that it was being broadcasting live via the internet on my station. They ran newspaper ads as well naming my station for people that couldn't attend to tune in. To make a long story short I filled every slot I had that weekend and had a blast doing it.

Its a good idea to broadcast a festival and stuff live but how do you broadcast live out in the open over the internet? i know about wireless and stuff but if they might not have it and if they did wireless is not very good for broadcasting :)

Australia has 3g wireless internet covering 90% of Australia. Thats alot of land compared to the UK or anywhere. 3G internet is fine to broadcast, just get 99-100% signal and you will be fine!

Sure beats the USA. I was in West Virginia last weekend and the coverage was terrible!

Even with Verizon Wireless, the net coverage isn't too good, but they have better net coverage than any of the other providers. Most providers only provide a broadband speed connection in the major cities and as soon as you leave, the signal is gone and all that is left is dial up speed. Verizon has broadband coverage mostly anywhere you go that has a decent population.

They had wireless internet at the festivals I attended. I had explained my need for a solid connection. They made sure a relay was placed where I set up. I had 100% signal with 1gps up which was plenty enough to broadcast and stayed rock solid. The event was for the entire weekend and included camping etc.

Local night clubs are often a good source too and many have internet access. I did a few live broadcasts for some bands that were playing locally that I met through my station site. Their fans loved it when they announced on stage they were live on internet radio. Of course I had a big stack of biz cards on the table with me and everyone got one before the night was over. I wouldn't rule out local as a source. If you do a few things to get them talking and build a rep locally you can get local ad dollars.
