So.. have you had any hackers or big downtime problems with your servers? Dont worry it wont make your host look bad in here if you have :flex:

I bet there will be a few trying to sell themselfs saying "i have 100% uptime at http://www.example.com, so buy from us" kinda thing..

the thing i have learned is this no one can ever guarantee 100&& up time its impossible that's why i never have my eggs in the same basket i will always have 2 tow 3 severs and i will always make sure they are no where on the same net work i rember i had like 6 severs all where 500 slots each from 3 different companys 2 from each and one day 4 went off i had 2 left so i found out that the two of the companys where getin there sever from the same place the othere one i had was in a diefrent part the world so them stayed on

We can push close to 100% uptime, once we get everything setup. The biggest problem is always moving and setting up servers. You always find out you want to change something after listeners are already tuned in and everything. Since moving out of alphared I have had a hell of a week getting the new servers correctly doing everything :P. Besides that everything else usually tends to work, hopefully :).

We had a minor hick-up (less than a 10-15 seconds) a few weeks ago at Stream101. This was caused by a client who had an 'exploited php code.' Their code allowed someone to hack into the system. They began uploading hacked files that start sending out hundreds of requests to other servers, and our firewall immediately blocked the web port (80) for the entire server while it narrowed it down. It sent us an email, and I found the account, in which I blocked port 80 for that account. This cause our web host server to load quite slowly for about 15-20 seconds until the system blocked port 80. I had the problem fixed in under an hour, with no downtime, just a slow server :).

And that's why I hate web hosting....

Me too, but hey, it brings in money and it really isn't that hard to do.

  • 4 weeks later...
Like every problem possible when I first started my station lol. My SAM completely uninstalling itself from my computer for no apparent reason, people accusing me of not paying royalties... everything! I almost gave up and sold it but thank god I didnt cuz now it is very sucessful and really took off with people emailing me all the time begging to have shows and slots on my station :)
