bigloo
Is my understanding correct that in order to use Port 80, you must create a separate link in addition to the normal listen links, or can the Port 80 link be integrated into the .pls file? Also, I am not behind a firewall, how can I be sure that the proxy is actually working? My cast control is set to "enabled", but I have someone using my server and they are telling me that no one can hear via port 80. When I click on the link it works - but again I'm not behind a firewall. I have told them that they must create an additional link for Port 80, in adition to the .pls file he already has in order to make this happen. Am I totally wrong in what I told him? I think he feels the server should recognize whether a listener is behind a firewall and automatically decide whether to play the normal listen link or kick in with the port 80. Thoughts? ________ Lou Bigloo Christian Radio http://www/biglooradio.com/ digiSTREAM SHOUTcast Hosting http://www.digistream.info/
m2m
In order for listeners to be able to tune into and hear your station via Port 80 - you would need to be streaming via that port in the first instance. You mention you are using Cast Control as your Shoutcast server control panel. Cast Control utilises a Port 80 Proxy - which is a php script that effectively takes your Shoutcast stream and duplicates it - streaming it out via Port 80. Cast Control has the necessary listen links built in - and accessible via the Servers control panel page of the system. There is no automatic redirection facility available - the listener would need to select the appropriate listen link in this case. In order to verify whether the Port 80 proxy is working, simply click on the relevant listen link within your Cast Control server page - if it loads and plays in your media player - it'll work for a listener behind a corporate firewall. Good luck and let us know if you need further help.
bigloo
M2M thanks.. this is what I was trying to tell my friend. He had it on his home page took it off because he went with Loudcity and now doesnt have it. I told him that he must create a new link using the link that cast control give it for port 80. He went on about how the server should automatically recognize who/what/where/how people are listening. Anyway this is what I thought I will just have to try to educate him further. Thanks again.... other comments/thoughts/additions would be appreciated. ________ Lou Bigloo Christian Radio http://www/biglooradio.com/ digiSTREAM SHOUTcast Hosting http://www.digistream.info/
m2m
Lou, Yes - there is no automatic redirect facility. The Port 80 Proxy script does not work with Loudcity - as it is against their terms and conditions.
