Stream Disconnects after 1 Hour

Hi

I am streaming my show into an internet stations' main studio using Station Playlists' Streamer (Oddcast V3, 128Kbs MP3) through Virginmedia XL Broadband, I have a problem where the stream disconnects after 1 hour every hour and tries to reconnect after 10 seconds (as per settings in encoder) but comes up "password failed" twice before reconnecting successfully & working fine for another hour then the same happens again.

I have tried a different computer with the same result and there are other DJ's streaming in the same way to the main studio without any problem so it must be at my end

That is most likely a result of your source not sending data to the DNAS (it could be an Internet connection problem). You will probably find that the 'Auto dump source time' feature in your DNAS settings is set to the default 30 seconds, this is why you get the password failed twice and then it connects after around 30 seconds. As a quick fix, you could set the AutoDump time to a lower time like 8 seconds and at least then it would reconnect the first time.

 

I'd recommend pinging the server while streaming, that way you would be able to see when there are any disconnections and where they are - I'd recommend a programme called Ping-Plotter - the standard and pro versions do come with free trials www.ping-plotter.com (I actually bought it so can say it's a good piece of software).
