mrbook
Been looking at Stationplaylist creater at replacing what we are currently using Sam, now I'm trying to find out what makes it different and better then SAM. From what everyone is saying it is this is the better software so just wanting to get more reviews or forums that deal with station playlist creator. CyberFM
Personally we use a few different installations of software, SAM being one of the best, HOWEVER, with that said, I hear that PsC can login to local weather sites and automatically announce weather forecasts on the hour (or whenever scheduled) and also syncs time with MS Time, and many other features like that! Been interested in it for a while
mrbook
True the time and weather thing is pretty cool to have, but was looking for something similar to SAM4 which we have that would use less system resources and don't have to worry about the DB crashing when we have to do a reboot on the computer. Always use a local, same/subnet remote mysql server for SAM. Cuts down on resources, avoids the problem you mentioned, and just makes you feel better during backups

nitnitr
I use Station Playlist, and have used SAM as well. If you want better control over your music rotations, and better voice tracking features, then SPL is a great program. It does use much less in the way of resources than SAM as well. SAM has it's advantages too, namely the request feature, but it had a tendency to crash on me too much, even on a dedicated machine. That's why I switched to SPL originally. I have never regretted the switch.
mrbook
I liked SAM's request feature as well but this morning I tried to add another encoder for our new 128b stream and SAM crashed and burned had to end task it now three encoders shouldn't be a problem. Went ahead and got SPL standard so far I like both but prefer SPL with it's control over music and playlists.
orestoneradio
We are just starting up (running in beta now) and decided to use SAM as it seemed the most feature rich package available. I have been running it on my PC for about two weeks without a reboot and it seems very stable. Yet I have seen a lot of people complaining about database problems... I installed MYSQL and have not had a problem yet. Is there something I should watch out for??
