RazorDenial
Hello, I run FPS-Radio.com . Our market that we are looking into is the gaming industry. What we are looking for is a couple DJs and Talk Show personalities to fill various time slots. Because of the area we are tapping into, we are going to be doing a lot of match-casting, and various talk shows in regards to video games, and the likes. FPS-Radio.com is a volunteer basis because we treat this as a hobby first and foremost. If you are still interested, please contact me via email at admin@fps-radio.com . Brutish Sailor
I have been getting ready for a launch at A PHP zombie game based network. Small game designers running their own shows without the suits, or countless employees. One man shows that understand our promoting them is their gain. The biggest problem with Launching a gaming radio (and trust me, many have tried) is that copyright edge pushing. Evey game vendor wants a piece of the pie for using their in-game content to talk about. Or sampling their in-game music. Its a pain in the ass dealing with these guys. Then they will go "ALL GOOD FOR IN STREAM ADS!" Then you need a SESAC license. More cash to sink in. More headache. How much cash/resources are you really looking to drop into this? I have some DJ's that might be VERY interested provided you are not improvising half of your resources. Its not that I dont trust your legit, but these guys are my broadcasting community family, and I will do EVERYTHING to watch out for their best interest. If you really got something together, we should talk. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
RazorDenial
I've already talked with Blizzard and Turbine Entertainment, I'm am also in contact with America's Army. The current agreement is that if I do not profit from their content, then I can use their medias. I already pay for my ASCAP licensing and a couple others. As far as how much financial resources I have sunk into this, the server provider that I have is allowing us to use a dedicated server with almost unlimited bandwidth provided that I bring at least 1 new customer to the company a month. This dedicated server houses the Stream that I run, and a VoIP Server that I need for Talk Radio styled shows that we are going to be showcasing. On top of it, I am using a company called Linkshare that has brought in just enough revenue to pay the $10 a month site hosting that I pay for. The site I designed myself, though I do have other individuals that are helping me with the overall cosmetics of the site. So, relatively the cost of doing business for the year is roughly $1200 for everything. And with the new laws that have past in the US Congress, small net stations can run relatively cheap overall if certain requirements are met. We're not looking to be HUGE, we're looking to be more refined in our genre area. http://www.fps-radio.com/ First and foremost, all of our personalities realize that this is a hobby, not a money-making venture. We do this for free. If we make any money out of this, it's to pay for the site and hosting. If we have money left over, it would pay for the fees for licensing and what not. If we still have money left over, it would be placed in a communial type of funding for our Competition Webcasters to go to the major LANs and cast from there. If we still have money left over, it would be for a generalized and admin specific account for music purchasing. All of our DJs pay for our music. We do not condone or support piracy. I have personally paid for my SAM Broadcaster Program account and for one of my DJs. Of course, if there is any money left over after all the incentives are met, the money will be split amongst all of the radio personalities. Brutish Sailor
I support your venture %100. I still think getting one person a month is going to be a HUGE undertaking, but if you can pull it off, your a better man than I. I need to shoot the bull with you some time. I wil also get the DJ crew together tonight. We all have been very busy getting the station relaunch off the ground, but I know some would be down to support a cause like this. I looked at your site, and for a gaming radio your missing ONE big thing. The browser based community. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
RazorDenial
You are right. The browser based community is a gaming genre that we need to tap into as well. All this means is that either we bring someone on board that knows Browser Based Games, or one of my current staff becomes literate in the genre. As far as getting at least 1 new customer a month for my server sponsor, that feat isn't all that hard to accomplish. My current track record is anywhere from 2 to 6 new customers a month since October.
