What's goin on everyone?

Let me start off by saying, I am stoked I came across this site. I can't believe I didn't find you sooner! But.. later is better than never, amiright? ahhh ahhh ::elbow::

So.. onto who I am.

I'm Chris. I'm from Long Island, NY and I'm trying desperately to start a career in the radio industry.

I got involved with the promotions department at a local classic rock station. I've moved my way up (not in the pay scale) but in the graces of management to Producer of the Morning Show. I only do it on Thursday's and Friday's, but damn is it cool. I'm pretty sure I want to make a career out of this. I've also worked with production, and engineering at the station. The engineering gig didn't work out, which is fine because I found that I like production, and producing the morning show a lot better.

It all started when I was in high school about 10 years ago now.. I wanted a talk radio show, like Howie. Of course, then O and A came along, and again. I wanted my own talk show just like them. Well, I got the chance with internet radio in late 2006.

I've been doing my own show now for 2 years, and it's great! We're trying to promote all things local. We work with a lot of local bands, entrepreneurs, and we're trying to work with local bars now and just promote the hell out of the local scene we have here.

So, with that, I'm always looking to get my hands into some production work. I'm trying my hand at freelance work right now. Production work and voice overs. I have a profile up on Voice123, if you'd like to take a listen to my work: http://chriscarrington.voice123.com.

Outside of radio, I'm hella into rock music. The heavier the better in my opinion. I like computers too, sometimes haha I'm a recovering computer tech. Did that stuff for a couple years before I found a real urge to push myself to try to start over in the radio industry.

So, that's my story. Hope you were at least entertained a bit by readin all of this drivel hahah

Thanks guys!

Howdy Bizzacore and welcome aboard.

So I gather from your demos that you are on the South Fork of Long Island, yes? Glad to hear you have access to a production facility. There's another L.I. guy around here by the handle CyberFM who you may bump into shortly.

I'm up North in the Hudson Valley, but I know a little about your region.

Be seeing you.

You're close. I'm not on the south fork.. not that far out east, but I am indeed from the south shore of long island. Is my accent that distinct? hehe

The only production studio I have access to is my own really. believe it or not my home studio sounds way better than the 2 production studios at the radio station I frequent. hahaha I dunno what it is about those studios, but they don't sound very good at all.

Cool! I'm real interested in getting to know the people around this board. Everyone seems so cool, and we're all here for one common purpose. It's nice to have a little community to come to.

Youuuuuuuu rang?

Welcome Bizzacore! I'm on the South Fork, my studio is on Neighborhood Rd in Mastic Beach (used to be an old Cafe).

What town are you in? What stations do you work at?

Love bumping into locals, and if you are focusing on Indie Music, boy do we have a lot to talk about!

Glad to see more NY'ers here, and Carl, thanks for remembering ;)

EDIT: I see you are the BJ Radio Show? Paul Andrejack has already spoken to me about getting in touch with you guys!

That Paul Andrejack, he's a hell of a guy! We've had him on the show a couple times. Once in studio, and once he called in while they were recording to give us an update on what's going on in the Andrejack camp.

Yeah man, it's great to bump into locals! That's so awesome, you built a studio out of an old cafe?! I'm SO ENTIRELY JEALOUS! Mine's out of my bedroom. I'm doing what I can for now, but always looking to expand. But of course, the monetary perils of trying to switch my field of career has got me against the wall.

I work over at WRCN with Dave and Glenn in the morning. I don't get paid, I'm just working with them cause they're awesome guys, and they're willing to give me a chance. I've had my hands in production, engineering, and I'm starting to also learn traffic, and I do promo events every so often.. and I board op as well. Boy that sentence wasn't structured very well.. hahah So, I'm kinda one of those guys that does a little of almost everything. An asset (as you would say in the business) because I don't get paid for much of anything I do, or have done. It comes with the territory of trying to get into a media business though, huh? :biggrinthumb: haha

So, yeah man definitely hit me up. I'd love to talk to you about more stuff including your station, and especially your studio! The aim name is the same as my name on here, and my e-mail address I believe is in my profile, but if not it's meltdown0071@gmail.com

I'm in Islip by the way.. forgot you asked, since I like to babble hahaha

Talk to ya soon!

Well, CyberFM's intentions is to set up camp all over the US so you can hear local music broadcasted to local listeners (of course local advertisers targetting local listeners) once our Mainstream For The Underground stuff is finally off the ground.

So in theory it would work well to host "Local" Broadcastingworld Concerts Parties, Barbecues.

James - maybe you should set up some sort of program where the stations, for example, "CyberFM" would have a "Proud Member Of BWC..." branding on it and we figure out how to appeal benefits by being a member... affiliations, sharing prize give-a-ways who knows.

Andrejack, as Bizzacore has mentioned, will be helping kick off our Summer Concert Series... so I say, "Lets start this all up" it's only February afterall.

All I know is that I picked up a "BJ Radio" bumper sticker at one of the Shows in Mulcahey's and was told "Bro, get this show on CyberFM, they're big Andrejack supporters"

Those are some killer ideas! I'd love to help out and be apart of whatever happens howver we can! We'd love to be a part of whatever we could..

and yeah we are big Andrejack supporters. Big local supports as well. As I've mentioned we've had them on, we've had on Criag from Crooked Jaw Clothing, Code Anchor, The Fearless, The Restaurant, Destroyed By Anger, Year of Confession, A Farewell Fire, Koro, Render.. there's just this great list of awesome bands we've had on. We've also done phoners with local bands from here, and out of state, like Blameshift, Tenesee's Cactus's, Georgia's Dear Enemy. And we're always looking to promote what's local man. We;re all in this together looking for a common goal.

This is pretty awesome right here. I love this!
