What do YOU think is the best radio record to,listen to in an open top car, going down the highway on a beautiful summers day.... LOUD!!!

I have to go with one of three

FLASH AND THE PAN-Down Among The Dead Men,

ELO- Tightrope

or

SNIFF N THE TEARS- Drivers Seat...

ALL great!

What living is all about!!!:boonie:

Great choices there, Arthur. For me:-

Steely Dan - Do It Again

Same Old Scene - Roxy Music

Radar Love - Golden Earring

Not necessarily my all time favourite songs, but great driving songs.

Don't know about best record ever, but I once heard an Irish jock on Sunshine Hot hits 101 do an incredible talk up to the vocals

The Irish stations of the 80s led the way IMHO. I visited Sunshine in the early 80s before the "Hot Hits" format. A great station but they tended to live in the Shadow of Nova and Energy. Then along came Bill Cunningham from the USA with his new format and they never looked back.

BTW, a late welcome to the forums. I've been running a 70s related website for the last 12 years. I'll pop a link to your station on my site when I next update.

Just a few I could drive happily to:

Europe - The final countdown

Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love

Donna Summer - I feel Love

The Osmonds - Crazy Horses

Michael Jackson - Billy Jean

Chris Rea - The road to Hell

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car

The Alesi Brothers - Oh Lori

No idea why I would have some of them, others have meaning like the Alesi Brothers, when I first got on the road in the 70's.

Many thanks. It was during the build upto the re-launch as Hot hits 101 I think! They had 4 stages for the re-launch.

1. Non stop music

2. Music and Jingles

3. Music , Jingles and Jocks just ID'ing

4. Full programming

Very cool, just wish that I could have heard it all the time!

Ooops bit off topic I suppose. Sorry.

Not a lotta people know this, but I decomissioned the big Marconi... (no, maybe Pye) I recall transmitters from the Sands Hotel? They were humoungous units only 1 kW each.

Got some pictures somewhere. Still got the service manual for the transmitters here! :-)
