This. Is. Just. AWESOME!

Well James, there are a lot of different phrase samplers and looping pedals out there. Names like Boomerang, Loop Station, JamMan, etc. are some of the big names.

I use a Boomerang Phrase Sampler myself, but only for live applications and practice, since it has no memory.

Of these, the Digitech JamMan provides the features required for the digital age: "Store over 24 minutes of looping time on the included CompactFlash card. Upgrade to a 2GB card to store up to 6.5 hours of audio! Connect to your computer via USB and never lose another loop ever again!" Plus it is one of the few (if not the only)with XLR connections (most are set up for guitar 1/4" plugs).

One of my recording engineers has this model and I must say that I was impressed at the capabilities for the low price tag. After writing this, I find myself wanting one too!

Hope you find this useful.

Looks like it is exactly what the guy (Mal) was using on the clip! Thanks!

Just got a myspace comment from Mal Webb who did that commercial. He said he uses an Akai E2 Headrush

Looks like a decent pedal and ideally suited for what Mal Webb does. Costs less too.

I presented the JamMan, since you had inquired about doing this "digitally."

The key to using all of these pedals is an intuitive use of "tap tempo" to get as seamless of a recording as possible.

Hi guys, indeed, it is a Headrush, but I agree that the Jamman is damn good. I have one of those too, tho I still prefer the Headrush for its snappy inputting (the Jamman, like the Boss units, require you to stop and erase if you don't like a loop you've started... grrrr!) There's much stuff on looping and more at my website (plug plug), http://www.malwebb.com . Bewdy, love, Mal

Thanks for coming and explaining mal :D! Check out mal's website, its a good resource for people interested in this kinda thing :)

And yes malwebb is the very talented guy from the commercial!

I must ask, does it take much practice? You must have a good ear to assign a beat from a normal text..
