riverregionmedia
by the title, i ask, What exactly is your setup from Mic to final destination at the soundcard? mine is very very simple, i go from a Behringer B1 microphone, into my Behringer mic2200 pre-amp, then into my behringer UB802 mixer, on to my creative soundblaster soundcard. (can you guess i love behringer equipment?)

nitnitr
Sterling Audio ST-66 Mic to pre-amp to Yamaha MG124 Mixer to DBX Graphic EQ to TC Electronics C300 Compressor to computer. I often take out the compressor, so not to overdo the dynamics.
riverregionmedia
great responses so far, i tend to not use a compressor, and let it be handled either by adobe audition or just run it on air.

Bizzacore
My shows setup consists of a bunch of different mics, however everything aside from my own setup is just going through compressors then to the board. My setup is as follows: Rode Procaster -> ART MPTube Pre amp (Model 127) ->Behringer VX2000 voice strip -> Console From the console we feed a server machine that has winamp, and I use Sound Solution for processing. thecheese
Rode NT3 Mic -> Phonic Mixer with Rolls compressor doing mic processing, bounced back through insert -> Adobe Audition. Further processing goes on in the DSP chain on Station Playlist. My station is fully automated these days due to constraints with having the programme on Cable TV. Greg Houser
U87 / Horch RM2J (depends on mood) -> Little Labs LMNOPre -> Lil' FrEQ -> Crane Song Trakker -> Lynx Aurora I don't use 'em in that order (better to track clean and use the compressor and EQ when needed), but that's the general chain. I've got other gear but for the most part this chain is what I normally use.
