James
Are there still people wanting free shoutcast servers these days? There seems to be some sort of shortage of requests around here! What are some providers for free shoutcast servers, id love to test some out and compare quality etc.. :biggrinthumb: Studiio - All-In-One Radio Communication Platform SMS | Phone Calls | Social Media | Content
GKIye
Free sounds great .. but the question is : is free = quality Its a fact that broadcasters are not always looking for a premium / higher cost service .. however its always better to pay "something" A short story of 3 years ago : At Germany there excists for almost 1,5 year a provider who offered a 1 Euro / Month stream .. and I know some friends who used this provider .. good support service, great feedback and most important a good quality stream but ... after 1,5 year both the compagny, the owner, the website "and" stream where gone ... with no feedback anymore .. the service was up and away .. but also their money was gone .. for reason that almost everyone paid 1 year in advance .. some of them used upto 3 or 4 streams because it was that cheap ... This just as reminder to better pay something for some fair quality .. At the time the budget of a projects allows an investement they can look for a premium service. Visit and listen @ BW ! citrus3
i have come across that freecast web site several times. I just dont know how they operate. I can remember back in the day when i was scouting for a cheap server. Paid something like £2 for 100 listeners and they must have buffered all day long with quiet possibly a drop out every hour. These are perfect for kids messing around but if your serious about uptime and support it will not work just as Philippe said. That reminds me though I can remember when I was a wee lad at the age of 13 me and my friends started up a free radio station using Live 365 and never paid a penny. How did they manage that? Blazin 97
is free = quality Its a fact that broadcasters are not always looking for a premium / higher cost service .. however its always better to pay "something" Free definately does not mean quality, after all, nothing of value is ever free without some sort of a catch, in my humble opinion. That is a fact, how broadcasters are not always looking for a premium / higher cost service, because when it comes to internet radio, many people treat it as a hobby instead of a business, and do not want to put much money into it. WayneOwens
I just recently made a thread stating something about this.... Check out Listen2MyRadio they offer free SC Servers with 2000 man slots, I'm demoing it right now since the tough economy has cut my other servers off, if this seems to be worthwhile I'll stay free as long as possible. You are better to remain independant and rent your own servers. There are some terrible people that use L2mR, hijacking accounts etc... WayneOwens
Yeah I've got two servers running off both companies...128 and 56k running on L2MR and 64 and 32k running off Mixstream, so far everything is panning out very well

There are some terrible people that use L2mR, hijacking accounts etc... Listen 2 my radio is the armpit of free shoutcast. Plus there are many huge catches that they obviously don't mention, like the fact that your station is not listed in the shoutcast directory which automatically cuts any ways of exposure and any audience. WayneOwens
L2MR, you do get listed on SC, it's MixStream you don't get listed, my station Highway 40 Country is on there right now running an L2MR stream.... I've had fair luck with L2MR, I've maybe had to reset the servers once a day, but from all the listeners who have tuned in, I've had not a one negative response as to the quality of the stream.... James
Basicly, L2MR in my opinion is ok if you want to do the random webcast but if you are serious about webcasting, you should pay for a full server. More reliability and more coverage. Just my opinion. I have gone to Shoutcast 5 or 6 times in the past few days trying to listen to Hightway 40 Country. Every time, your stream was down with 0/2000 listeners. I do understand about free and cheap servers, but completely disagree with using L2MR for any station. If you are in any way serious about broadcasting, you need to use a reliable stream host. You get exactly what you pay for. You pay nothing, you get nothing. WayneOwens
What time did you go to listen, and it's like I said earlier, it does have to be reset every so often....which right now isn't a problem considering that I have no income. Also if you tried to listen between 12AM and 8AM we weren't there anyhow, we sign off at Mdnight, until we get the new automation system

WayneOwens
well that's the problem I use SOS and it has all my Winamp plugins there already and I only have Winamp running on one machine that works worth anything, so im kinda stuck lol... THREETEN RADIO
Install VLC player, enter you stream URL in there and have the volume on VLC turned down, that way you become a "listener" and it won't affect your live stream.
Blazin 97
Well L2MR is okay if you are just messing around with webcasting but in the longrun if you are broadcasting copyrighted material you have to pay royalties for that, so, prettymuch, you end up paying anyway. (if you wanna be legal anyway)
