A sad day for rock. CBS sell out to pop...

Recommended Posts

well, I must say, K-Rock (up until 2006) got me through my commute every morning. Then I switched to Sirius with Howard. They've never been the same since.

I come from the town that O&A did their first show together ever and never imagined they would be a suitable Stern replacement.

In the end, 92.3 becomes Z100. How nice. Just what we needed in NYC another Top 40 station.

FM is a dying breed.

O&A is far from the stand-out content on K-Rock. Their formatting is second to none as far as rock stations go. It's just another quick cash grab by a large network who refuse to see the big picture when it comes to entertaining people and go for the get rich quick path rather than service a loyal audience for years to come.

Well... their format WAS second to none, when you consider Booker, Stern, Crazy Cabbie.

They fired them all, it was a long drawn out process, not an overnight dismissal. They could have seen failure warnings much earlier had they kept the talent they needed in NYC

I feel sorry for anyone living in the New York city area your choices for free dirt radio is very few now, but could see the writing on the walls with CBS they were converting their other stations to "cheaper" solutions then actually paying more for better radio and shows. FM radio is dying and needs a bullet in the brain as far as O&A their show on the sat side is getting better since Tuesday.

  • 4 weeks later...
4 urban stations we have (Magic 97.1, 97.9 Jamz , Urban Gospel hallelujah 104 and Hot 105 )

Lucky! We have two legitimate urban stations here in Boston, Clear Channel's Jam'n 94.5 (Hip Hop) and Radio One's WILD 1090 AM (Gospel, Classic Soul and Urban Talk). However, we have about three pirate urban stations, one of which, on 101.3 covers the entire city and surroundong areas.

Its crazy in San Diego with FM broadcasting groups, and if you ever lived near the south boarder, you know what Im talking about.

All I have to say about that is, when you have a legit radio station in SD, USA and the are required to play the Mexican national anthem.... Yeah.

I can see the broadcast tower from at least 3 miles away lol.
