How Long For Itunes

Recommended Posts

Ive been in contact with itunes to get our own itunes page listing our members stations and upcoming radio things and each email is taking a week to reply to. They take awhile.

Check their twitter and see if they have any recent updates. If theres an update thats recent and you havent recieved a reply, try submitting again to itunes.

Threeten is right. I do know the person who lists the stations, so I was able to get in right away, but otherwise it could be a few weeks. Just be patient and I'm sure you will be chosen as long as your station meets their expectations.

iTunes can be very slow, or they may not list you at all. It took over a year for my station to get listed. Don't flood them with emails though. That's a sure way to not get listed. I think I sent an email with the station information about every four months as a reminder. Eventually my station was listed.

Yes, iTunes can be quite slow when it comes to adding stations to their directory. The reason it takes a while is simply because there are so many stations that are submitted on a monthly basis and they do check them out manually. It can be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you. :)

Rock on!

Hi I sent an e-mail to itunes with all the details as the post on this site said they need how long do they take to reply ? Its been like 3 r 4 days and nothing yet

Fozzy

It takes FOREVER for itunes to get to submissions, I sent them one like 2 months ago and haven't heard anything! And, most likely, the genre is full. I am Hip Hop and R&B and I think that genre is full.

I wouldn't expect to be waiting days, but rather in weeks if not months. I would recommend trying every month or so until you can get in. They occasionally will clean house and if a genre is full, a slot or two may become open.

Keep in mind that when you send the details, do it politely or they might reject you based on your tone!

Afraid not :(

iTunes isn't all that it is cracked up to be. Sure, iTunes will get you listeners, but some of those listeners are robots. How many of those will be 'loyal' listeners. Keep in mind it is hard to sell advertising when you say, "well, we're on iTunes". Most companies know that means nothing.

MarcAlle - I need to intercept here. I constructed a poll on the air for one whole week simply asking my listeners politely if they'd email me where they tuned in from. The outcome was great when I say that 58 % of the listeners that week came from iTunes. I am not sure what the overall percentage is of my iTunes to Windows Media to Tivo to the actual website to the.. Etc is, but I do know that there are plenty of listeners tuning in via iTunes and I haven't had any problems with "robots" listening to Jersey's Classic Rock.

Now, Jersey's Classic Rock was mentioned on a major New York radio station the last week so it doesn't hurt to get free publicity, but I believe that station is also listed in iTunes.

I must say that it is definitely beneficial to be listed in the iTunes directory if you want seriousness. I know from personal experience that advertisers ask that question: "Are you listed in any of the major directories? iTunes, etc?"

Patience is a virtue. It will happen when you least expect it. One day you'll check iTunes database and there your station will be.

Let me also add that if you want audio quality over the quantity of your listeners, Windows Media Player is the top player out of them all. I forward my listeners to WMP over iTunes because of the quality difference. Attempting to be added to WMP, now that's a huge challenge in itself. About three or four times, swapping paperwork back and forth, back and forth, etc. It's annoying, but that is also worth it. You will receive a nice chunk of listeners from WMP.

All in all. The more databases, directories, sources you are connected to, the better your outcome will be.

The first four months were hell for me, getting the station all ready, settling the whole iTunes, WMP situation, tagging all of the songs correctly and completely, making sure all of the licesning was set, and the most important officially licesning the Jersey's Classic Rock name. That's right folks. We are the official Classic Rock radio station of New Jersey!

Anyhow. Remember the phrase: "Patience is a virtue." Hopefully you will take this post seriously because we were all once in your shoes.

  • 3 weeks later...
It will take some time. If they don't add you after four months then I would politely email Ryan and ask how much longer it would take.

No..do not e-mail Ryan and ask him when or if you are going to be added. When you sent your e-mail submission and received the auto reply, that was proof that your e-mail had been received and sitting the inbox. As the reply e-mail says, do not send multiple requests for the same thing...do not e-mail asking when or if you will be listed. These do not get replied to and will just b e ignored. If they want to list you, they will do it. It took my station 1 1/2 years to be listed. Getting added takes quite sometime, so please just be patient and have faith that they will get to reviewing your station when they can. iTunes Radio is the last priority for the iTunes staff a lot of the time, so reread your auto reply e-mail and be patient.
