I'm always very impressed when I visit a radio website to be greeted by a bank of available listening options ie: winamp / real / flash / wmp

I only have WMP becuase that is the only code I know how to set up.

I would reall love to extend my listeners options, if anyone could give me

help with this in simlpeton layman terms...lol that would be a great help

to me.

Harry.

If you PM me your stream IP and email address I will send you files for .pls (winamp/iTunes player) and .ram (Real Player), All you will need to do is upload to your website home directory with a link or logo to the player. Can give you full details also.

Yes with certain providers like that you can do that but if you just have an IP then the formats won't work. You have it the easy way. :biggrinthumb:

This forum is more like an ancient ruin, but EXCELLENT for ideas with launch files. also some of the most resourceful tools to this very day in webcasting. (wish I could buy this domain for my server)

http://www.casterclub.com

why Im at it, some other good sites you should be looking up thats overlooked.

www.oddsock.org - oddsock is my personal role model for webcasting. I secretly have pictures of the entire domain in my home closet with candles and paint smeared messages of coding. Yes, I even have a hood that says oddsock on it and walk around at night with a sock on a broomstick. A VERY BIG FAN of these guys.

The Shoutcast toolbox 2.0: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=187590

A lot more to list. Planning my new dedicated server setup ATM, so got to get back to that. But have no doubt, I am going to restart a casters club, one way or another. The next generation of low budget casters is coming. We will grow in numbers and change the future of scripting.

//shameful plug

Just saw this and thought it would be good to explain that StreamSolutions flash embed player is only for Flash media servers, but you can try http://www.stationengine.com which I developed free just for this purpose :).

Best of luck, I think the post above covers just about everything else :P

Excellent player from ALEX.

LOL your absolutely right about the SS media player. I have to give a shameless plug for nick @ SS (the first guy that helped me get a leg into the understanding of this industry)

If you dont feel like paying roughly $1000 on a server for WOWZA, s far as I know SS has the only transcoder for ACC+ flash hosting at the moment (that I know of)

but for webcasters like me, www.stationengine.com is the way to go.

While we are on the Nick@ss appriciation bit, he has been with BW from day one. Liturally. SS sponsored our opening by offering %40 off their services for our opening of BW. Also sponsoring many of our competitions and much more :)

Also alexr, your player is going to be a hit. Maybe you would be interested in advertising a bit?

*ahem* continue on hehe

Thanks for all the replies, you see I don't use Shoutcast just Windows Media Encoder 9 series. So I don't have an open port or a stream ip?

this is the only stream link given to me by the server host -

http://vista.streamguys.com/norcliffe1?MSWMExt=.asf

So I'm wondering how to get this into the other players ? WMP works fine

but of course the encoder and player are compatible.

Ok, usually I would dig for HOURS on this subject until I find a decent answer, especially for stuff I have never messed with (like WME)

But for this one, I will just say this. You have a stream host. I'm assuming you pay them for their services. DO NOT let these guys off the hook as far as questions about using their services.

If they are good enough to take your money for a service, they are good enough to answer your questions when you get stuck. That's my solid policy on web host.
