New look for the website

The Equilizer

Recommended Posts

Hello folks,

I have just updated the look of my site! Many of you will find that it is MUCH better than the old, simpler layout that I once had.

It still needs work, I know. I am new to this sort of thing but it is a start. I would appreciate any suggestions that you may have.

Thanks,

-Tim

Yep .. looks nice to Me

The cassette media player is a wonderful tool and rather original ... nice !

I have only 1 prob ... at your left tab you have the word "download" .. I guess you have at that place a kind of image or mouse-over ... Is that right ?

Because all I see is the word "download" but no background image

All other images and text are A-ok

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Is there any way that you can take a screen print so I can see what you mean?

Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

Thanks

I will be tweaking and updating the site as time progresses. Make sure to check back and see what I do...

And Threeten... I didn't realize you had me linked on your page. I'll be sure to add you to my links page once I update that part..

Thanks again,

Please see the attached jpg file

Unless the lines of the tab are part of your template it looks to Me that the word "download" isn't at the right place ex: center, topmargin etc

or that the background image of the tab gives a conflict to your fonts

I have general settings at my IE with a 100% screen and a 100% caracter value. What means that what is written as text has to be seen as equal into my browser

I'm not saying that you made a fault into your script .. I just wanna tell you how it is seen by Me as person :)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Is there any way that you can take a screen print so I can see what you mean?

Thanks

That's how I see it too. I know it's jacked up. I am having problems getting it to look nice and the columns to look equal, etc. I am a noob when it comes to web design. I need to mess with it more to make it look better. Truthfully I became frustrated and decided that it's good enough for now until I have the time to tackle it once again.

Thank you for taking the time to point this out and go as far as taking a screen print for me. I appreciate it.

at first sight it ain't that difficult ...

You create conflicts by doing this :

ex. into the start of your tab you write

into "that" tab you write

and you write an image width of

images/img_1</p><p> in the same tab you make a

Writing the amount of the width and height as only "123px" or only "123" is recommended ... with at the start of the tab a value of "100%" or an total width amount of for example "213" gonna give you the right results and all tabs gonna be equal to eachtother ...

At an other place into the same tab you write the command

[/b]

....

in the first line you don't mention the width and you give 2 different values to the same command (39px and 100%)

and into the 3rd line you give a value of "50"

In fact the td style and table style are both the same .. what means that you make to start writing 2 tabs into the "same" tab .. however that part is only seen on your page as 1 tab .. for reason that the first part isn't finished in between by using

The value on top of this ain't equal with the value who is used into the image space on top of that (image space - not the image spacer)

An idea can be to copy the complete tab section - where you made the link section - to a WORD doc

Set all content line by line and see where you find differences .. make this differences equal to the main content / commands who are written at the start of your tab section

This looks a huge job .. but it ain't so .. If you are new to "tabs" etc .. its a way to see in an easy way how things are written .. and you gonna understand this way the logic sense of the script

Good luck !

Any voiceover artist that has done free stuff for me gets a link on my links page: (http://www.threetenradio.com/links.html) I don't expect one in return but feel free to add me if you wish as and when, it is your choice. (Y)

  • 3 weeks later...

Honestly .. it looks much better than your first version

Maybe you can manage your "font size" to a smaller value ... currently the details on the right side looks pretty big

a font size of 10 upto 12 would be better and it would look more professional

Notice : a headline or banner message can be kept as they are now ... With a smaller font size I wanna talk about the general text content

I use my browser settings on 100% and the font settings at my pc config are also set to 100% ... these settings are real good to see the real content as it should be seen by other users

Example = if you give a 10 value to your font size it still gonna look rather normal to users who are using a higher percentage value at their pc

if you use your current font size 16px untill 20px .. your text content can look as "huge" to pc users who have into their pc config font size settings a value of 112% or higher

To set your font size value to 100% as standard at your own pc ...

see "Start" > "Config" > "Screen" > "Settings" (the most right side tab) > into that tab you click "Advanced" > and choose "General" > "Dpi settings" and choose "normal 96 dpi"

Translations of the tabs are made from my Dutch text ... but I guess in general its gonna be the same at your pc ... I'm using XP

If you have currently a higher value .. it can happen that some websites that you are visiting gonna look a little different than before .. but after a while you gonna have pretty good experiences in the reading of all content on different websites ..

Good Luck !
