Blazin 97
Hey guys, This is pretty big in Boston right now, and as the only Bostonian on the forum, I'll break it to you guys. Boston's NBC affilate, WHDH channel 7, is refusing to play Jay Leno's new primetime show starting in fall at 10 o clock. Instead they want to air a local newscast at 10, because Boston's FOX affilate is doing a 10 o clock newscast and getting great ratings. NBC is not going to allow this, they are saying that this is a "flagrant" violation of their contract, and if they persist, WHDH will be stripped of it's NBC affilation, and NBC will get an owned and operated in Boston, since Boston is the 7th biggest TV market and they supposebly have many options for the market. This is pretty big in my neck of the woods right now, we'll see what happens. The Boston globe reports on it here.

BWorld
I don't understand why they cannot move his show until a later time. It doesnt air until Midnight Eastern Time in Michigan, why can't it in Boston? ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? Blazin 97
I know! And, no one made a big deal when some FOX affilates refused to play "Osbourne's Reloaded" because they found it offensive. I guess NBC is really strict when it comes to relaying and playing shows at another time.
Ricardo
I'd guess that there's a lot of differences in basic policy between Fox and NBC. As for local news, I can see why the station would want to keep that. In my area here in Toronto, I've noticed our local news is really sucking out on a couple of the channels. On one station, they use part of the news broadcast time to pimp Entertainment Tonight Canada.
