bigloo
Just curious what others are streaming at. We stream at 64kMONO. It gives a good sound, and we feel it is "office friendly" We also stream at 24 which we are currently considering dropping and just keeping the 64k. We started at 128k, which had a great sound. Interestingly we found a much higher jump in listeners during the workday when we switched to 64k, so we left it there. What's your bitrate (and why)? Do you think anything over 128k is a waste of bandwidth? ________ Lou Bigloo Christian Radio http://www/biglooradio.com/ digiSTREAM SHOUTcast Hosting http://www.digistream.info/
BWorld
When I had my station up and running, we used to stream at both 64kbps and 128kbps. We found that most people tuned into the 128k in the early morning and evening as well as weekends. Throughout the day, most listened to the 64k stream. ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? Brutish Sailor
Thats because the work place traffic can get screw up high bitrate streaming. Plus you want to keep off the "Im listening to web radio" radar at work, and 64kbps is the PERFECT stream for that. Very true, most employers will monitor the internet usage and when they see a spike coming from a workstation, they will check it out. Most employers also have an Acceptable Use Policy and downloads as well as streaming audio (considered 'downloading') are supposed to be kept down to as low as possible, and only for business purposes. At least this is how it was where I've worked. ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? Brutish Sailor
That's why the broadcaster using port 80 32kbps or 64kbps always seems to attract an office crowd. I cant explain it, but I always hear numbers with port 80 in the 10,000-30,000 ATH range. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
