For those that may not be able to keep their web stream alive

Recommended Posts

yeah and FreeStreamHosting doesn't list you on SC either. I have had my L2MR servers running for a few weeks now and have loved it, they have to be restarted every 10 or so hours, but it's worth it, I love the output the medium has, and all my listeners have not once complained since the move...

BUT i was searching through mixstream's website and found this..

http://freestreamhosting.org/

You can currently sign up with them for a free stream. Anybody wanna try this out and report back?

I remeber someone else found that service a few months ago but it was like December and it had said "coming September 2008" :)

Looks like they did end up launching :)

Yeps ... but as I wrote on top of this it don't work as it should be

After some days the Ip Port link gives "access denied" .. even when used with their listen.pls or asx link

The link to the account at http://s1.myradiostream.com...... is sometimes ok but it can give also an "access denied message" ... so at that time it don't give access to the own account

So that looks rather strange to Me ... isn't ...

I made an account to make a try-out .. and honestly the quality was great - even with a 96kbps teststream - but it looks not really reliable if used as stream link at the website of a station

It can be interesting to projects who are in need for a backup stream who can be used for 2 or 3 days

My Test Results:

I signed up about a month ago. The stream works for around 3-4 days then I get an "Access Denied" error. After about a week it clears up and will occur is 3-4 days again.

My Review:

Would work great as an emergency backup, but don't rely on it for your main broadcast as it seems to go down a lot!

Just my 2 cents!

Lol! I figured I'd share my experience too. For me, if only one person says something, I try to test it out for myself before believing. If many people say the same thing, I have no reason to test it out.

More words...I like that ;)

If you had a link on you web page to their own player which advertises them (mixstream) then you probably won't get access denied, more so if you have a constant listener using there player also. It's just the way it is marketed. If you are new and have no website you could use that service and just link to the player. As quoted previously in the thread, great for beginners.
