JBVoice
Hey guys, I am looking to freshen up my demo. I have listened to a ton of other people's on voice123 and a friend of mine who is a fairly popular VO artist in my area told me that his demo is a bunch of Station ID's and simple liners that he "made up" because he doesn't like advertising who his clients are...I'm not sure if this is the right approach but I'd like your opinions. What would make a good "professional" demo for me to use? Thanks for any suggestions -JB Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. THREETEN RADIO
I would have thought using real clients work you have done is a good thing as it shows that people do actually employ your services whereas if you make up names and people work this out they may think that's a bit odd. Just my view on it.
mwagner
My suggestion is use the ones youactually produce and acquire scripts from others and record with their permission to make legal, and you can say about your demo, "This IS my work experience". Good luck! Mike
Brutish Sailor
Ditto, but Im not a vo guy, and maybe this is the right approch? I wouldnt know. I leave this in JM, AB, and James hands for an opinion. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
Jinglemaster
I have to say, you just cannot beat using real work for your demo. Anyone can make up stuff and it never sounds real for some reason. Always tell the truth. I was just saying to Gordon Brown at lunch with the Queen today, that honesty always pays. There is no point pretending anything in this world. People always see through B.S. JBVoice
thanks so much for the input, turns out...I'm just going to slap something together with my most recent work! I should never have listened to the guy, no wonder he got fired by the radio station here :x aha -JB Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. Ricardo
A few years ago my wife brought home a CD of voice demos for her work. I think I recognized companies from the demos but I can't recall now which ones. I definitely remember one of the actors on the disk was then a lead on the series Blue Murder, and he's now on Cold Case. It was Jeremy Ratchford.
