Internet Radio Censorship

Recommended Posts

Hi Deryl,

Welcome to BW .. and don't forget to make yourself a small introduction into the "Introduce Yourself" section

The quote that Deryl makes is also a question that I often hear from artists - most of them are myspace projects who are eager in the search for airplay

At the time they hear my project is European based .. the problem is solved

A great English band (No Connection) was concerned about "Feed The Machine" being played

Into an other topic I ever mentioned the website http://www.airplaydirect.com .. not sure if anyone at BW became a member of that online media service ... its an USA based distributor of in general US artists and about 10% artists coming from the outside of the US (both Europe and Aussia) .. they offer all genres .. from easy listening, soul, pop, rock untill World ...

All tracks are MP3 or WAV and are ready for broadcast. I guess that can be a good website to point US members to get music that they can use without all the editing work ... (you may referer to my project during the sign up)

Notice : to be accepted as member you have to prove that you have a website (about your radio), your stationname and that your station is excisting and operational .. after 2 or 3 weeks you gonna receive an accepted or denied notification ... after that they send a Monthly newsletter with the new releases

This website http://www.deucemp.com is also very interesting .. they offer airplay to artists (there are more artists into their list than mentioned on their website !) and they even offer a free 1 hour "high quality" radioset with all their new releases. If you write them a message "as station" you may referer to my name and project (GKRadio Europe)

Well .. I never noticed the difference ...

I just added the track into the queue list, its gonna be aired in about 5 untill 7 minutes ... You may check it out at the stream .. if this is an edited version

Its a MP3 of the original full CD

This is normally the case, but a good example of this not being the case is in the song Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder..

UPDATE :

Indeed they sing "And it really makes me wonder if I ever gave a thought about you"

so seems the edited version :)

As an American and a musician the old, archaic philosophy behind Censorship is not only horrendously outdated, it is seriously out of touch with todays public. It amazes me that people still think because something doesnt happen to appeal to their particular tastes or tender sensitivities that it needs to be Censored or isnt "Art". People would rather blame music for when their children use language aimed at them then to examine the fact that their children probably learned it from them in the first place!

I, for one, will never censor an artist. Granted some messages in songs dont appeal to me or possibly my listeners and if enough of a row is made, I'll stop playing a song. Or if the content is too vulgar to begin with we reserve the right to not play it at all. That is simple logic. Taste dictates what you listen to and what you choose to listen to. Once it was considered vulgar and pornographic when Elvis swung his hips. Now thats considered tame. It is truly a shame that a closed mind does not automatically include a closed mouth.

It's a simple thought...it doesnt take alot of braincells to figure this out. Dont like the song? Dont listen! Turn it off! Dont buy it! No one is about to hold a gun to your head and make you listen or buy!

Nuff said
