saint
Services like Hulu and Youtube premium channel are making it extremely hard for commercial television stations and satellite operators to leverage their control over content and demand extravagant advertising prices. Cable companies are also fearful of the impact on their complete home sales package - premium tv / internet and phone service. Why get premium cable television when you can watch every thing on the net ? http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/05/hulu-victim-success/ Relaxing Entertainment For The World - - www.ScenicRadio.com

Why get premium cable television when you can watch every thing on the net ? http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/05/hulu-victim-success/ That is completely true. I don't have time to watch a show on cable at a certain time when I can watch it anytime time on the net. And why do I need to pay for cable when I have the net, does that make sense? Plus, the last time we had cable, all my kids did was sit in front of that thing for 6-12 hours, and after we moved, I said "Never again I'm getting cable". And with all the crap and the bad programming that's on cable, it's not worth it.
MADcHATTER
And another thing that grinds my gears Cable channels that play the same movies and shows over and over and over again during the week. How many times can you watch "The Notebook" or "Overboard" or the same episodes of "Deadliest Catch" before you day screw this and jump online where there is far more current entertainment. Cable TV is driving people to the Internet where Hulu and other services are there ready when "We Are!". The time is coming when Commercial TV and Cable will have no choice but to webbroadcast...one day! MADcHATTER
Brutish Sailor
Its not that people should turn to HULU, its that TV managers need to do their job, and give people what they want to see. They try to fit programming in to be competitive with other stations via air times. If 5 stations show crap, competitiveness wont save them. With the current work schedules of viewers in the states, Why is it that 1000-1800, all I still see on Sundays is infomercials. Take some decent programming and slot it there. To afraid of losing ratings because of the loss of people in church? Make it Sci-fi, and dark fantasy. It worked back in my youth. Id watch all the low budget shows on Sunday. billh
Hulu, Thats a great site, I like watching the old TV shows like The Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants. I searched for Combat and Rat Patrol, but they aren't listed :( bummer. LOL We got rid of cable about a year ago. Then my wife wanted satellite, so we have that and I 'd like to get rid of that as well. I even went to the support forum for my satellite company and told them they suck. 99% of the shows are a joke and not even worth watching and 99% of the chanels suck as well. Out of one hundred and something chanels we watch maybe 10 chanels total. The rest are a waste of time and my money OH BOY!! I get 100 plus chanels watch 10 so it cost me about $7.00 a chanel. What a deal I got lol.... I agree with you Brutish, They should put Sci-fi, dark fantasy or something other than infomercials on. "I'm Retired" Donations PayPal.Me/artistview . I only do dry reads, if you want FX's you'll have to add them, I might add them. GKIye
True, true true !! Cable channels that play the same movies and shows over and over and over again Problem in my country is : You don't have to have pay-tv or cable to get it ! At Belgium (afterall a small country) We have at the Dutch region of the country basicly 2 channels of the National TV compagny, 3 of the VMMa private compagny and 3 of a second private compagny So those are 8 channels at least ... + (plus) privat channels and all the other channels coming from other European countries In general in Belgium We have all cable - so cable to Us isn't equal to pay-TV - in general almost all tv-sets are connected by fiber aka the cable and to a majority of the people they are using at the same fiber also their internetconnection. Since some years We have HD-TV ... for that customers have to pay apart of their connection or they can choose for HD-TV only All compagnies are talking about "We are selling Digital TV" .. become a member blablabla .. (commercial talk !) But basicly Digital TV is made by all current production compagnies .. but these products don't reach the viewer as "digital TV" All TV's who are currently sold are still basicly HD or High Definition TV's and this isn't equal to "digital" it means that a TV has a resolution of 100Hz and these days they begin to sell the new generation of 200Hz to finish this small story ... clue is that since HD-TV is available all "good" movies are shown on .. yes sir ... on the HD-TV channels + pay per view tools etc etc aka = to urne money the re-runs of all your favourites can be seen on the regular National TV channels .. if you missed it on Monday at channel A .. no prob ... tune in at channel D some days later ... After nearly a year some production compagnies are making job cuts because some of their productions don't have anymore that huge success ... Well it ain't difficult to achieve that .. I guess after a while viewers are zapping to other channels and skip their trusted channels because its "everyday" the same "all over again" These days We are eager to get some new managing directors who know what people wanna see .. It looks that they "all" lost their knowledge and skills in "how to get viewers" So its a fact that the online business gonna grow into the upcoming future .. To Belgium this is still a small problem for reason that We have still Monthly limits on Our internet data usage :Z: Visit and listen @ BW !
