Brutish Sailor
I heard a pretty crazy claim, and I need some testers for a server. http://dfxservers.ath.cx:8000/listen.m3u tune in, 256 kbps. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego

Brutish Sailor
Im getting buffering problems like crazy, and this is off my streaming server to this server, so its not a $#@#%$*# ISP problem off my part. It might be a problem on the bitrate down on my comp. Maybe it had connection issues over night. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
shoutcaststreaming
I'm running a WinMTR and MTR from 2 servers to your server. One comes up at an average of 139 msecs and the other one at 359 msecs. The faster route goes through ABOVE.net and the slow route goes through WVFIBER.net .. Both start in Los Angeles. I hear a ton of buffering, if I can even listen to the stream, which I usually can't. If you are streaming at 256k and have a ping time of 359 msec, it will surely buffer. Trueheart
I tested out your stream Sailor and it would not play in my winamp. In fact it could never connect to the server to listen, it timed out. I then clicked on the link you posted that goes directly to the server page and it could not be displayed.

Brutish Sailor
SCS Im getting the same results from WinTR... True, he just added some more memory to the server, so it was down for a bit. Kick it down to 128kbps, and see how the stream stays from there. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego

shoutcaststreaming
Well I can listen now, but still buffering like crazy. On my 2 routes .. the one going through ABOVE.net is averaging 137 msecs with the worst being 337 msec. The one going through Cogentco (they changed the peering ?? ) is averaging 183 msecs with the worst being 3328 msecs, which is horrible. The pings on this route are highly inconsistant. It is low then high then low then middle then high, etc. I am trying to listen on the 2nd route. Our rule of thumb is the ping time should be 190 msecs or less to broadcast at 128 kbps with no buffering. Brutish Sailor
Times like this I wish I had NSV hooked up.... A new level of buffer, and my streaming server has more than enough ability to put out quality considering I could set it up to stream at two different bit rates without a hitch. I think Im just about done..... But I will give it some time.... Just for giggles..... KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego

wildun
A good host is the 1st step .. Shoutcaststreaming is a good choice, affordale and helpful as you have seen. If you really want to test your isp I have some slots you can use for free. If you buffer on them .. it's your isp.
Brutish Sailor
The whole reason I wanted to test was this guy got on Winamp's forums and started making claims of 1000 slots @224 kbps for 7 pounds (about 10 bucks?) I'll leave the rest to winamp. But I knew it wasn't the ISP, I used KWD's streaming autoDJ to stream directly a data center to the Server to test. Then tuned in, I just needed a second opinion just to make sure it wasn't my ISP with some form of interference. I know I could have run test off the bat, but when I buffer that bad, First thing Im checking is to see if someone figured out how to connect to my wireless router through a way I had not thought about yet.
