gulfam
Hi, Last day, my headphone's built-in mic started making noise. I am in utmost need of a mic and don't want to buy another headphone set (for computer). Instead I want to purchase another mic. I live in a small city and can't find good mic. However, I have seen a dynamic mic of Sony (Japan) available here. Is it suitable for internet radio? I have to put it directly into the sound card of my computer/laptop. Brutish Sailor
Ok, 1) What kind of budget are you looking at? 2) Do you run any external equipment? KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
Brutish Sailor
Let me show you my setup... http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee69/Brutish/swiv2.jpg From the mic ( Dynamic mic, $20 from Radio shack, Mic boom, $20 from radio shack) http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee69/Brutish/THeBoard.jpg to the mixer , A Xenyx 802 ($40 from Behringer) To the comp with an external soundcard (ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA, in case you do something accidental that KILLS it with frequency/ voltage) http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee69/Brutish/Newcomp-1.jpg You would think the sound quality is horrible. but I have heard worse. $35 for sound blaster audigy. JBVoice
Hello Gulfam, Any mic is suitable for internet radio, now...quality is up to you and your station needs. Here is what I suggest: A high quality mic is not necessary for a station streaming under 128kbps, if you are streaming at 128kbps or higher, it is recommended, but not necessary to have an expensive set up. Especially if you play mostly music. Low Budget: Behringer Dynamic mics, they sell for under $50 (i got mine for $15 and use it for mobile djing) Mid Budget: AKG Perception 120 (needs phantom power) $89-$99 High Budget: Shure SM7B - The best mic I have worked with so far. $300-$400 (which comes with a boom arm @ http://www.bswusa.com) -jb Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. Brutish Sailor
I thought I posted this earlier... Radio shacks mics were designed originally and made by Shure. Just thought I would share that. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
teltek
Slightly off topic, but I always fancied one of these, primarily to use on my Amateur radio set up, any body used it in a radio studio, I know Heil have a very good reputation amongst the Amateur radio and Bands community. http://www.wsplc.com/acatalog/SPECIALS.html The nice shiny chrome one. Might be a nice 50th Birthday present to myself :biggrinthumb:
