Metadata and two comps?

Recommended Posts

How are people using two computers to stream live?

I get the idea that one is dedicated to the music processing, and one is dedicated to the encoder for processing reasons, but how do you use two computers to stream meta data?

If you feed the stereo line out of one computer two a mixer, to a line in on another comp, where is the meta data coming from?

I know there are multiple ways of doing this, but one way is that you can use Spacial Audio's SOS to pull the XML data from a text file over your network.

Basically in the instructions they explain how to set up an HTMLoutput in Sam that will feed a text file, and then how to get SOS to read it. All you have to do is instead of having SOS read the file on your C drive, just set up a remote network drive and name it something like Z, and have SOS pull the text file from there.

I did some testing with it, and it proved to work very well. Titles updated instantly like they do normally, and it was quite stable.

Now obviously this is not enough to justify paying $500 for SOS, but if you have a copy of it for some other reason, you might as well put it to use :)
