producerpinnell
I'm not sure how many people outside of the UK listen to Moyles (I know you can get him on Sirus in the USA), but the show is currently being aired live on video stream on the BBC Radio 1 website. It's not the first time the BBC have done this, especially on Radio 1, and I'm sure it's happening around the world too as I type, but do we really need the live video stream for something that's on the radio? One of the potential downsides I've noticed from the recent trial with Moyles' is they sometimes seem to go for Video Stream only features, which is great if you're watching, but not so great if you're just listening on your radio. Is video streaming the way forward when it comes to radio visualization? Thoughts?
KHUK
It's somewhat unnecessary as far as traditional radio goes. Those who listen online can enjoy the experience of visual radio, access to more interactive features and such. I can't imagine it will move people from their traditional radio sets to a laptop, desktop or Wi-Fi. I wouldn't be surprised if within the next year or two they introduce a new batch of DAB radios with video enabled features such as station webcams. What would ‘The Buggles’ say? I heard you on the wireless back in Fifty Two Lying awake intent at tuning in on you. If I was young it didn't stop you coming through. Oh-a oh They took the credit for your second symphony. Rewritten by machine and new technology, and now I understand the problems you can see. Oh-a oh I met your children Oh-a oh What did you tell them? Video killed the radio star. JBVoice
It is a great feature for online radio, preferably talk shows. I know of one internet radio show that had a live webcam that had millions of listeners. It was called Radio KOL (Kids Online), and was a branch of America On Line (AOL). They were one of the firsts to use video streaming, but they never did anything that makes u miss much by just listening, other than celebrity interviews....but you don't NEED to see them to enjoy the interview. Idk, thats my view. Oh, and the host of the show (which is off air now) just hosted the BRUNO premiere in Hollywood (Rick Adams) FYI. I am pretty good friends with him, maybe I can try and talk him into signing up on here...he is from the UK and was big with BBC, childrens programs. Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries.
