How rude !!!

KRISISDnB-DJMX

Recommended Posts

Yes ive been on here for a number of months now but never really introduced myself.

Have to say I find this website very useful and a good community of fellow broadcasters willing to help each other.

Im MX (Malcs is my shortened real name), co-owner of internet radio station KRISISDnB.COM alongside DJ NeO. Weve been running since March 2007 as an outlet for drum and bass DJs and MCs to promote themselves. I have been into drum and bass for around 5 years now and although not the most mainstream of genres its been part of my life through all of that time.

We found it hard to find a station suited to us that wasnt just about promoting the owners so we decided to make one ourselves that would give equal opportunities to everyone on the station.

We dont use SAM Broadcaster or any other form of scheduling tool and from some of the conversations iv read on here i take my hat off to the rest of you as it all seems very complicated.

We have DJs and MCs who play live on KRISISDnB from home from around the world and are live for roughly 14hours per day. We have an archive request system that allows our listeners to pick the archive set thats played in the same way as a pub jukebox when there is no DJ live which we felt was the best way we could think of to give people exactly what they want.

We cant boast some of the 3 figure listener counts that some of the rest of you can but we are in a very niche market and competing with a lot of other stations. That doesnt worry us though as its just something we love doing.

The station is based on the south coast of the UK and yes most of our DJs and MCs are from the uk, but we have at least one show from Canada each day and also other shows from Brazil, Malaysia, Germany, Australia, Georgia and Belgium.

Were also an event promoter on the south coast of england and use that as a way to give our artists the opportunity to play in front of a crowd in a club. For some of them this is there first chance to take that next step

Have a look at our site and see what you think ! Weve tried to add as many features as we possibly could which some may say makes the site look cluttered, and yes we know its not perfect by any means, but this has been our first project and we had never built a website before but weve picked up everything we know along the way.

So there you do, thats all about us. Have to say everyone on here has been really helpful especially GKRadio and Brutish Sailor whohas come up with some things I have used.

Hopefully get to know a few more of you in the near future

Not far then, im in Southampton and NeO who runs the station with me is in Portsmouth.

I was heavily into trance and house before i moved to the south coast about 8 years ago when DnB slowly took over. I still have all of my old trance cds around for a sunday morning every now and then !!

NeO found and tuned the archive request system which is based around the irc chatroom we use and a bot that controls what is played. It allows for people to request tunes (or in our case archived shows). Im not too hot on all the details of it but thats the basics.

We run the station as a team effort with both NeO and myself looking after specific parts so were not both up to speed with each others side but it works well for us and means were not under each others feet wasting time working on something the other might be as well. I will try and get more information about it from NeO

Welcome to the site! I'm sure you will find this community helpful! I have a suggestion, more so something else that you might be interested in. I use to do live broadcasts with an in studio webcam, maybe you guys could have a stickam webcam WHILE you mix, just a thought, to get more listeners/viewers..

hey JBVoice ! Well... we do already !!! If our DJs have a webcam and there broadband will cope with the extra load then we broadcast live webcam as well. The problem is with some of our international DJs whose broadband isnt as fast as in the uk or elsewhere. Some struggle to get 512kb broadband so streaming to shoutcast and to stickam is going to clog things up and sound is the important thing as a foremost

We were using a microsoft windows server to broadcast the cam but for the amount of shows that were using it it wasnt worth the cost so weve recently moved over to stickam which weve just got to move each DJ over to and write up some instructions for them to set it all up. A few have used it so far with little problems so for a free service it seems fine.

Plus its another big website that we have a presence on which is all good for promo i think.

Our live page has the webcam embedded into it next to the chatroom so people can see it all in one place which makes things simple.

We will be making a second cam page on stickam as well as that way there is no clashing between show cutovers as one can simply use the other webcam instead.

Cheers for the suggestion tho !!!

Awesome! I think I already checked you guys out on stickam, since I am a stickam veteran from day 1 lol. I remember was member number 17!!!!!! Now there are thousands and thousands of people on there. Although I had to create a new profile because my original was a radio acount and back then you couldnt switch easily.

I'll tune in sometime, btw, I added you :)
