James
I have been listening to our govermeent owned station ain Australia for the Youth (Triple J). I contacted the DJ on air after she finished playing requests asking what song was played at a particular time. I was suprised, she contacted me and teold me exactly who its by and where to get it from. I have never ever had this from a well known national DJ on the biggest national radio station! I usually talk to the producer of the show or no email at all. I thanked the DJ and said congratulations on her excellent show and communication. Is it just me or are national station and commercial station DJ's getting a bit "celebrity/look at me" type? I shouldnt have been suprised that the DJ contacted me back but i was cbecause this was the first time! It is virtually impossible to contact a DJ anywhere in the world and ask for a simple interview! So really, how important is communication to your station? theoriginalrage
It's not like that in the States. I'm a local DJ and I don't consider myself "celebrity/look at me" but the listeners sometime do and I find it flattering. But if I'm at work and the phone rings I'll pick it up and talk to whoever it is about whatever they want and I'll answer emails too. I've settled a lot of bets about who a particular artists that does a song and I'll give the information about artists and songs too. Our website also shows what's playing. You should listen to some of the radio stations in the States online. My station is http://www.klpx.com. I know it would be expensive for you to call but if you did I guarantee you would talk to the DJ that is on the air. You can chat with us on Yahoo or AIM. Just add KLPXFM. I'm Rage btw. JBVoice
Well, at the local college station I work for...people ALWAYS come up to me in the mall, just simply because they go to that college and am in some of my classes! lol, for me its not a "celebrity" kinda thing, its just a popularity and knowing alot of people. Now, the station only broadcasts maybe 10-15 miles...but the listener stats are unreal! I too will answer the phone and answer any questions that anyone might have...no biggy. -JB Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries.
