Yahoo wins U.S. court ruling over webcasting fees

 

A federal appeals court in New York ruled that a Yahoo Inc Internet radio service is not required to pay fees to copyright holders of songs it plays, a defeat for Sony Corp's BMG Music.

When will RIAA use common sense and realize that they must update their business model. Extortion and Racketeering belong in the past.

 

I hope like hell this sets a precedence that the online broadcasting community can use to create a more equitable compensation plan.

 

Instead of making broadcasters jump through hoops to get royalty licenses, why not use a simple blanket license. You pay a rate based on quarterly listener statistics.
