DJ Panel That automatically changes shoutcast password etc

Hey. I'm new to the forums.

I need a DJ Panel that automatically changes the shoutcast password to the hour time the person has booked (changes when the booked time is starting obviously).

Thanks.

EDIT: I'm also looking for a very cheap shoutcast host. I found one from http://www.citrus3.com/shoutcast.php which are very cheap in my opinion for unlimited bandwidth at 128kbps but if someone can find cheaper that would be appreciated.

Let me stop you there. If your goal is to find a "very cheap" host, you're going to be sorry with the host you choose. You get what you pay for in the bandwidth world. The less you pay, the less quality you are going to get and you are probably going to get a host which has terrible uptime, buffering, and is a one man shop meaning support will probably be very slow to respond since there is only one person handling it.

Just my 2 cents ;)

As for the panel, I don't think any of those exist; however, I could be incorrect.

By the way, welcome to Broadcasting World :welcome:

Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the advice. But I mean I want a site like Freecast or 1Radio where they have a timetable and you can book then the server will change the password when the time has come. I understand that the cheap hosts are going to be bad but the one I looked at (http://www.citrus3.com/shoutcast.php) is unlimited bandwidth and I also asked them for a trial to see if the uptime and buffer is good, So don't worry about that. All i really need is a dj panel or somehow a site like 1radio or freecast where you can have a timetable etc etc explained above.

Thanks alot for all the help so far :biggrinthumb:

i havnt seen any scripts that will do that... but you might as well just change the password once a day or something

I guess that's a good idea. Thanks for the help anyway :D So can then someone recommend me the best DJ panel where people can register and have their own profile (like a part of the website)? Thanks.

On 1Radio, I had the shoutcast host provider create an API where I can change the password on demand.

You might have to take this approach with your supplier.

And your shoutcast host provider is wavestreaming, right?

I got a 320kbps 500 listeners shoutcast host for £2.50/m, unmetered bandwidth, very fast stream. Takes like a second to buffer. Besides wavestreaming isn't bad lol.

I know limited PHP but I can do alot with it. I have not worked with Shoutcast CP's in awhile but I am sure you could talk with your host about setting something up like that. In php I think it would involve a simple fopen fwrite and fclose.

The thing about that site is its a website host. Your already paying for hosting why not get it all in one place and no they did not pay me.

Because I prefer to try first lol. I only buy servers that offer free trials.

If Aj says its good, its good.

Thanks for the suggestion but if I can't have a trial I'm still going with Wavestreamer :P They're cheap and I know they do what I need as they're powered by freecast and 1radio.

It might be worth adding, that to change the password on a Shoutcast server, you need to edit the configuration file (although this is normally done via a control panel) and restart the server - restarting the server will actually kick all of the listeners off the stream so each DJ would need to start from 0 listeners (it can take surprisingly long to build your listeners back up - most people just go elsewhere when it seems like the stream has ended).

It's probably a bad idea to change the password between shows in this way.

There is one way of avoiding kicking listeners off, but it would involve setting up two shoutcast servers - one for your DJs to stream to (that's the one that would have the password changed and be restarted, only needs 1 listener slot, set to private), and another server to relay it which wouldn't require the restart.

Another problem with the password changing thing, is that your host would need to dedicate quite a lot of time to set something up that will do that - they will normally either be unable or unwilling to do this, especially when you're not prepared to pay much. A 'very' cheap host will certainly not do it.
