'Guiding Light' demise continues soaps' decline

Not really a streaming media topic, but I found it interesting.

 

The latest soap victim, CBS' "Guiding Light" -- a show that began on NBC Radio in 1937 -- will go quietly out Friday after 72 years on the air.

My grandmother watched General Hospital and All My Children, and was extremely upset when those soap operas were bumped by the Nixon / Watergate trials in the early 70's. Then again, Watergate was a soap opera unto itself ;)
