Bizzacore
Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows how to tune an Orban Optimod 8100FM. We had a crisis at the station I work for where our 8400FM went down. I actually had to send it back to Orban for repair. Anyway, needless to say, the station's sound is completely off, and while I know that it won't sound exactly like the newer unit we were using, I was wondering the best ways to tune an 8100. We're a Classic Rock station, so if anyone knows any settings I could throw onto it to make it sound better than the flat mess it sounds like now, it would be a great help to me! Thanks guys!! Arfa B
Look at this: http://www.orban.com/about/articles/bass_sound.pdf When I have set any audio processors up. I inject a wide band white noise source and adjust the controls to make sure the output frequency response is flat. I do this by looking at the output side on a spectrum analyser. (You can at a pinch use Cool Edit or similar to do this- but, there is free fft software out there, if you look). You must make sure the output terminals are loaded with the impedance you are going to use (so keep it connected) and preferably connct up an analyser with a high impedance input) Then I mark all the controls, and adjust in small fractions to get the sound I want. Otherwise, you just go round in circles. Good luck :-) If I have helped you with a Freebie- please be kind enough to add a link from your own site or blog to mine- thanks! http://arthurburton.net Thank You! DaveyC
As a backup for if this ever happens again why not try Stereo Tool from http://www.stereotool.com - We use it at one of our stations and it works well. We could even set a stereo pilot tone and RDS with it if our SBS rack ever dies on us. Best of luck, Davey
