Attempts At Imaging... Tell me what ya think!

So I've been in professional radio now for 7 years. Been through broadcasting school and all that jazz. Never tried prod work. Well, I been moonlighting with a new station Spazz Radio and the owner didn't really want to purchase imaging. And the spots they had... very amateur. So I decided to play with Soundforge a little more, and then ended up with these...

Please, tell me what ya think, as a first timer, criticism is wanted PLEASE!

All ok- watch the mic. popping on the word "pm" though.

The only other thing is, shorter versions work better with the usual attention span of 3 microsecond merchants that live in the 21st century (says he very cynically!)

Yeah they are good, stand by- I'll throw an extra voice at you in a mo...

If I have helped you with a Freebie- please be kind enough to add a link from your own site or blog to mine- thanks! http://arthurburton.net

Thank You!

In fact they sound ok

- the first is indeed way to long ... you could make from the first at least 3 seperated IDs

- the second can achieve a better level if you fix some volume settings ... and the SFX elements have to start right after a liner etc ... That way the SFX gonna give the ID more drive

The start right after a liner stands for some milli-seconds (ms) .. but it gonna make a huge difference

As advice I'm willing to say : edit your second file once again into multi-track software aka musicstudio .. Than You gonna be able to adjust every seperated element - concerning the volume, panning, effects and most important the place of it into the production

In general = thumbs up !

Thanks Leaf,

I'm looking forward to the results of it.

Just one wink for the road :)

If you are new to editing try this :

- make your edit by using multichannels "and" use small (low cost) speakers

it gonna give you the advantage to learn and to notice differences

- at the time you're sure about the right result, play "and" listen that result by using regular speakers (surround or other "good quality" speakers)

Now you gonna be able to fix things to a final edit

Good luck !

Hi Leaf,

Sounds better ... right !

Now you have to adjust during your production the "volume" levels

aka normalize the sound to 1 level

The SFX elements sounds still to loud and other parts (such as the first song) is to low

Sometimes the making of a nice mixdown can take some time ... and strange enough, the shorter it is the more panning, adjustement is needed to fix all elements

If you make future IDs etc ... take your time, be patient ... 15 seconds of material can take easily 20 minutes to achieve the best possible result.

If you wanna hear some examples I made ... check out the following link at my homepage :

http://www.djmcharry.be/voice.html (text is into English)

and listen to the files into the second flash player

Thumbs up so far :)

Hi Leaf,

I like the station promo very much

Hope they sound good.

Attached you'll find the edit that I made of "your" file

- I deleted all silence parts

- Added some "small" effects to the voice (sounds now more clear)

- Added some SFX effects in between and deleted some small SFX of yours

- Normalized the audio and mastered the general content

Open my file as WAVE into your sound editor and see what I have changed compaired to yours, this way you gonna understand what I meant into my earlier replies.

I hope you like the result and its helpfull to you

Enjoy your Sunday !
