JBVoice
Hey guys, The other day I got a phone call from a man claiming to be interested in my voice to be signed to his so called "voice over agency". He went on to explain that his office is in Nevada, and he came across by voice on a google search. After 30 minutes of the conversation, he convinced me to send $20USD for an application fee to get signed by him (not much money, but still). I have signed with a local agency here and they charged $45 for the consultation, so I knew that was normal.... As soon as I sent the payment via paypal (can't believe I fell for it), he hung up. I then realized, something was not right, he didn't even ask for a shipping address (thankfully!!!!). I tried to call back, and someone answered, apparently he used a PAYPHONE!!!!!!!!!! I google searched voice over scams and something shocking came up!!! http://blog.bobbinbeam.com/2008/03/24/beware--the-sneeze-audition-scam.aspx BEWARE!!!!! I don't want anyone else getting sucked into this. -JB Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. johny c
$20 is still $20 when you just thrown it out the window. I wonder how many more people he's got. Jinglemaster
Contact PayPal immediately. It takes 3 days minimum to withdraw monies from paypal to their bank and PayPal will block it if you tell them too. Also bring in the Feds. AFAIK it is a federal offence (deception) and if caught he faces certain jail time. Thanks for the warning JB.
JBVoice
Thanks JM, I disputed the transaction, then called someone at paypal to explain the situation. They said something similar to you. They did tell me that the money that I sent was sent from his account, to an account over seas, then wired to a bank (aparently already!). I can get refunded, which is cool, but I'd like this bastard caught! That will be my satisfaction. I'm sure he has ripped off many.. -JB Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. Arfa B
That sneeze thing isn't a scam really though is it? Arfa B
I got a write up in Time Out Magazine back in the 90's ... they said something like "This DJ has an amazing sense of humour, pity it's so warped though" It made me larff! If I have helped you with a Freebie- please be kind enough to add a link from your own site or blog to mine- thanks! http://arthurburton.net Thank You! Jinglemaster
I had a write up in several papers too. It was all lies I tell you. It wasn't me, I wasn't there and that lookalike on crimewatch was in on the whole thing. Oh..... I see what you mean. Erm, ignore that last bit.:Z: I also have a sense of humour. Now, where did I put it?
