dredradio
I was surfing the net the other day and I found a company that is creating a clone of Microsoft window At first I thought it was just another liux OS but no it isn't I downloaded it and tried it out and I like it, it still needs work but its interesting it kinda looks like the old style windows 98 but the company is still working on it but if you want to check it out give it a try you can try it with out installing it by using it inside windows no installation required http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html
Lloyd
Seen it. Didn't try it. technically it is baised on unix... since M$ is aswell in 1980, Microsoft entered the operating system business with its own version of Unix, called Xenix, which it licensed to various computer vendors. But i dont think that anything is really going to be as good as windows... (i am a linux fan)

saint
I always wanted to try Linux, and finally caved in and tried Ubuntu 5 on a old laptop. I Installed Ubuntu 6 on my desktop and I have not turned back sense. For the very few Windows applications that cannot translate over to Linux - there is always Wine or the commercial emulators. I have tried several versions of FreeBSD, but that requires a much more studious approach at getting various hardware drivers to work. saint
One thing that I have come to really appreciate about Linux, is the vast amount of Software available in the repositories. Another key issue is the fact that you do not have to upgrade your computer just to use a updated version of the Linux distro that you use. Try that with Windows and see how far that gets you ....................... I started off using Gnome, but I am leaning more towards Xfce now. I know there are die hard KDE fans out there, but that desktop just does not appeal to me. You could not pay me any amount of money to rely on Windows ever again. It was a wonderful product when it was first launched, but has gone down hill ever since. Vista is the equivalent of the Millennium Edition - and ME was god awful. I hope that SCO finally realizes that litigation against Linux is useless, and dies off in bankruptcy court. Jinglemaster
I would rather trust Barrack Obama with my car keys than use Microsft anything! Two reasons: 1. I hate Microsoft products with almost as much passion as I dislike fraudulent Presidential personages. 2. I don't like my car and could do with the insurance payout.
