How do you have a radio station with different hosts/shows

Hi we just do one show but would like to expand to have more hosts/shows. At the moment we have me (working SAM broadcaster) connected to the host of the show via Skype. I want to expand and have several shows but dont want to have to be working on the pc the whole time. Is there software that automatically starts breaks and/or software which is easy to use for the host... if you have a radio station how do you do it? Thanks

SAM Broadcaster is an excellent tool for this.

You can have set so it will schedule pre-recorded shows or live via shoutcast/icecast feed. Schedule breaks / station IDs with the event scheduler or by using PAL scripts.

 

You just need to be aware of the latency of the internet feeds when rebroadcasting live feeds to combine breaks etc but yes it can be done.

Is there a particular reason why you need to be rebroadcasting the show from your PC? That is to say couldn't the host of the show use a copy of SAM or whatever encoder tool you wish for them to use (even WinAMP DSP if appropriate) and have them connect into the stream directly?

 

That'd remove latency from live feeds and give the host a little more control over what is happening in their show. If you're worried about breaks between shows, or having to restart the stream have you considered a stream host which provides WHMSonic?

 

WHMSonic contains an AutoDJ as well as offering LiveDJ support. The server does NOT require restart between transition of LiveDJs or between LiveDJ to AutoDJ or vise versa. Everything runs smoothly. You can also set up separate Usernames and Passwords for each of your LiveDJs (hosts) so that each one is separate to the other allowing it to flow better.
