Full List Of Radio Automation Software

When I discovered the BW site I was immediately struck by its similarity to the Ots Users Forum. Thought there must be some connection but, to my surprise, I found nothing about Ots. All the talk seems to be about SAM Broadcaster etc.

My shows are all produced using the latest version OtsAV DJ Pro-Classic, and I am completely satisfied. The Ots is very easy to use; so I can concentrate on my links and not on being a sound engineer. The sound quality is awesome, and the extra information saved on Ots files are worth their weight in gold! I won't mention the beat-mixing facility because I don't use it, but if you are doing anything for a hip-hop station...

Anybody else got any comment about Ots?

Damn i really wish I knew about all of this FREE auotmation software back when I started my station and bought sam for $200 somethin dollars! That was an un neccesary 200 somethin dollars I coulda spent on somethin like a domain name that my station website doesnt have or voiceovers from Rick Party which I wish my station coulda had. I cant get the domain name now anyways cuz the copycat station with the same exact name took it. THAT is why my station is changin into 99.9 the beat in December, if u didnt know why! i cant stay in business with a more popular copycat station with the same exact name!

I have used Myriad in the past at a station I worked at. It is VERY VERY good indeed. Uses 4 sound cards, so you can run it like 4 decks through the desk PLUS those cart machines on top. The best software i used for playout, but it is very expensive. You will be looking at about £3000 ($4500) for a version.

Yeah we just recently purchase Digilink, and honestly for the $400 I invested in it, it comes with their satellite switcher free of charge, pre programmed with the timer so that when it comes time to renew, I'll know, and to date the only bad thing I've encountered is the onboard sound cards on the switcher need to be wired with a 1/8th jack to plug into my Sound Blaster for all the goodies, but hey on the good side, is once that is done, I can hook up a regular jack for cue output, so I can do a whole bunch of stuff with Satellite feeds and the whole nine yards. And if things look good in a few months, we'll be investing in their console that comes with it, so we won't have to worry about that wiring. I'm actually talking to an engineer right now to get some things done in the future to hook up a satellite dish, and if I've done my research right, I'm going to use my old DirecTV dish to get all the feeds

That would be really cool if you were successfully able to do that. Last time I talked with an engineer about that though, he said that you need a very wide satellite for picking up audio only content because audio only content runs on a different type of signal than tv. He said that normally the dish needs to be at least 8 or 9 feet wide.

You might want to paint over the direct tv logo too ;)

Yeah it is only $100 a month, or you can pre pay for 6 or 12 months at a time and save some dough, I arranged it with them to pay for 4 months, because if things work out right around tax time and the economy looks stable enough, I'm gonna buy their ARC-10 console to control my on air PC, so it's well worth a look into

I am absolutely in love with Zara Radio. I was looking for something for my internet show that played random tracks from a specified folder for a long time. I downloaded Zara radio, and never really gave it a chance until recently when I had some downtime. Gave it a go and it works out perfectly!

Now when I'm in break for the show, it just plays a playlist of random files (from folders I point it to for each element) rather than just playing the same playlists over and over again each week, which got really tired.

I'm also going to try to implement this for the network my show broadcasts on, so that all of the remote shows can connect to the content server, and Zara Radio on the content server will pull the live show from a Shoutcast DNAS it's running. The way it's done now, is clunky, and causes listeners to have to re start their stream and it just stinks. We have to manually kick the content server from the stream server, so that the live shows can connect to the stream server directly.. at least with this new theory the content server will always be connected to the stream server, and we can have smooth transitions between live content, and automation.

Thanks Zara Radio.. you're going to make this a real possibility for us! heh

you actually do have to build a playlist, BUT you can build a playlist of 'radom' tracks.

Here's how my break playlist looks right now:

Segment Ender

Network Promos

Sponsors

Network Promo

Show Promo

Network Promo

Pre-Recorded Bit

Show ID

Ramp Music

...and they're all just random tracks, so that it'll play a different track from that specific folder that I told it to play from every time it runs.

Also, like I said I planned on using that for the network automation, I plan on building a 1 hour playlist, and just having it repeat, because there's no real reason to have to build different playlists every day for 24 hours. It's a stand-up comedy network, and the only time things differ is when there's a live show on, which I can schedule into the EVENTS section. I planned on something like a network promo ever 2 files (because they can run for a while) and schedule an event that at the top of the hour it fires off a network ID. Those won't be scheduled, but the folder that keeps them will be so that the same one doesnt play over and over again.

It's almost like building a rotator in ENCO's DAD system. You build a rotator, then you pick and choose what goes into the rotator, and itll just fire off the random tracks that you chose for it. Zara will only fire off the random tracks from the folder you specify. So the more tracks you have in the folder, the less likely a chance of a repeat for a while.
