The Gui looks great....typical of professional broadcast software used at commerical stations, but anything I see implies that you cannot schedule events or have much programming control over the music.

just playing with play it live tonight.....

love how easy it is to input a music folder. very quick and easy to do. also love how quick it is for search functions work and does it well.

The cons? far too limited in options. I want to create and set playlist taking audio from folders randomly. I can't do that. yes, some rotation is there for music, but no control for syndicated shows which have to be played in a certain order at a specific time or anything else that needs that control. shame really. That's what it is severely lacking.

A "nice to have option" is "hot keys" and configurable to the players to fire on pressing a specific cart player....be it quick cart or main player. This is pretty much standard on pro software. gets rid of the mouse, at least as an option. also would be nice to have a auto gain control built in to even out audio levels within the program

You don't need the count up timers on the main player. It adds to the clutter and is hard on the eye. The countdown timers are the only things you need.

I'll probably add it to my internet streams MCR computer, but only use it in live assist when someone is live. zararadio still my main full automation program.

Thank you for your fair comments, Scott.

As the developer on this project, I'd like to say that PlayIt Live is in active development and will continue to improve over time. Hot keys will be added as a core feature in a future release, as will playlists and more complex scheduling. Watch this space :).

I will. I was very impressed how well the program imported the 60,000 odd mp3s on initial test without jumping through hoops and frustration in learning a programming language or SQL databases. I'm a firm believer in being able to drag and drop new mp3s until folders for adding new music, syndicated shows, etc. It just makes sense for my use given the rather large library I am using.

I can recommend zararadio's events scheduling as a point of reference. It's easy, simple, flexible and works well for me. I program a play list every hour which picks random music cuts within a specific playlist. If I can have that flexability, that would be great!

I have used Zara Radio plenty of times and it's really great. Simple to use and just 'does the job'. Not too advance in comparison to Radio DJ or SAM's automation elements, but if you just need some radio automation in a hurry - Zara Radio is the one to go with!

I've found this one quite good, but again a little pricey!

www.jazler.com

My opinion is that Jazler is the best Radio Automation Software Worldwide. It is expensive becuase it has it all. But remmeber that when you have a professional radio you have to pay for this programe. It is fast and you will not find any problems. If you try the trial you will see.

people here really need to take a look at rivendell, if your FM if your internet stay with SAM if you must for your 25 listeners lol

But for FM looking for a change you wont find any better hten rivendell, i looked at all the software mentioned here, and it all lacks in features compared to rivendell

yes it takes a bit of learning to install but read a book or a manual for heavens sake lol

running rivendell automation on a station serving 100kw and this includes pulling podcasts, network feeds, and also voicetracking for ten DJS,
